Daily Blogging Optimizes Business Publicity

By Paul S Fitzgerald

Nowadays, blogs are no longer just for writing daily journals. Blogging has become a popular marketing tool. It has proven to be an effective tool in fact because blogs enable marketers to create a mutual, more personal relationship with their target markets. It enables marketers to communicate directly with both existing and potential buyers.

For a marketer, blogging offers a lot of benefits. It is the best way for him to reach his target market. Also, he is provided with an opportunity to study his target market and discover other potential buyers. Additionally, blogs provide a direct link between a marketer and his target market, which eventually gives the marketer more leverage for persuasion.

By nature, man is curious. Thus, it would be unlikely that one blog will go unnoticed. Oftentimes, blogs are interesting to read because the contents are about real events or situations that happen to real people. Moreover, site visitors are given the opportunity to share their own opinion on the written blog by leaving a comment. That is how blogs can mainly create traffic.

Initially, blogging daily creates traffic due to the fact that every new posts provide visibility to search engines. And a blog site that is aesthetically attractive filled with fascinating content attracts more visitors which equates to major traffic.

Thus, in using a blog for marketing purposes, one should greatly consider the blog content, since it is the main reason why people read blogs. The content must be informative, cordial, and fun to read. The topics should be interesting. Variety is good, but a marketer should make sure to stay focused on his own goal, which is to sell his products or services. In addition, the blog site should be focused on the target market for optimum efficacy. This way, one is sure to attract a certain number of visitors or subscribers. These people will eventually refer the blog site to other people. As a result, the blog site will be able to reach a multitude of networks.

Also, visitors should be encouraged to leave comments. This is one way for marketers to build rapport with their target markets, as well as to attract more visitors. One way to optimize media presence is through submitting blogs to blog directories. Another way is to generate trackback links. By commenting other blogs in you website, you are automatically linking your site to the blog which you commented on. In effect, a link to your site may be displayed just the blog entry, which could lead other viewers of the said blog to your site.

Techniques For Making Money With Your Blog

By Kevin T Hope

Thanks to the modern trend of online publishing, it is easier than ever to start making money with your blog. It used to be that writers were firmly split into two camps. Either you made money or you did not. Writing was either very lucrative, or a a path to the poor house. Blogging for money has leveled the playing field for those who enjoy writing.

The modern online writer no longer has to depend on agents, editors, or publishers to help derive an income. Thanks to the internet, an author is limited only by work ethic and know-how.

Whether you are a veteran internet publisher, or a new person trying to make an income online, making money with a blog is something you can do. Here is some advice from someone who does it:

1. Leverage the power of Google. You may think of Google as just a search engine, but it is in fact a huge internet powerhouse that offers unparalleled earning opportunities online. One popular method is the Google Adsense program. Just sign up with the service to use space on your blog to show ads posted to Google. The system automatically displays advertisements related to the topics you write about in your blog.

If you wrote a blog about your pets, for example, the ads displayed would be for pet related products and information. If one of your readers clicked on an ad, you earn a small amount. When you reach a specified amount, Google sends you a check.

2. Promote Related Products- Investigate affiliate programs. Generally, you would either have an ad on your blog, or do a review within your content. When a visitor clicks the ad and then purchases something from that company, you get a commission payment. The percentages you can earn from the sales can vary from company to company.

3. Sell ad space - The problem with Google ads and affiliate programs is you do not really have much control on your earnings. If you want to get a little more serious with your virtual "real estate", then you can use services that allow you to look for advertisers to rent space on your blog. You ad space can then be leased for a certain period of time. It's a win-win situation.

4. Look for community support - Many blogs have donation buttons on them, and they can get the job done. You'd be amazed at the number of readers who are willing to help out to keep their favorite blog going. The most popular way to use donation buttons is through Paypal.

5. Open an online store -If your blog is popular enough that it has become it's own brand,it may be time to offer some souveniers. This is easily done thanks to cafe press. The selling price is up to you; you just need to pay them the base price of the products.

Making money with blogs is easier than ever. However, it does take consistent action. Follow the strategies laid out and you are sure to succeed.

Strategic Thinking For Blogging Cash

By Kevin T Hope

All successful businesses have a strategy. If you want to successfully earn money blogging, then you should have a strategy, too.

Where do you see your internet business in the next few years? Many people get started just trying to make some blogging cash, but if you really want to grow a business you need to know where you're going, and have a map to get you there.

Before you form a strategy you need a mission. A mission should include the blogs objectives and values. Your mission statement should also state what you are offering your readers. Once you have a well thought out mission, it's time to get a little more specific.

A business portfolio is a survey of all your products and offers.

Take a look at the products, offers, and affiliate programs you are currently working with, and decide where you should be investing your time and money.

Then start developing your blog strategy. Remember that on the internet, marketing opportunities can change; old opportunities become stale; and new ones are started. What worked for you in the past isn't a guarantee for the future. Always take a dynamic outlook when analyzing the market. Visit other blogs to broaden your world view and improve on your strategic planning.

With a good strategy, based on a sound mission, your blog readers will always come back for more. With a strong portfolio in place, you will never have a problem finding the right offer for your traffic. Strategic thinking is the baseline of good business sense.

What Does Blog Stand For?

By Thomas Sinfield

I don't know if any of you were like me but when I first had this thought I had to stop and think about it for a second. How many of us call ourselves bloggers yet cant even really define what a blog is?

I mean when my friends ask me what a blog is I usually say something like:

* It's like having a diary but online for everyone to read

* Just a place where I can write my random thoughts and see how many people are bored enough to read them.

* Something I do online to make money

OK, maybe I carried them on a bit, but do you see where I am coming from? I mean what does BLOG stand for?

So I decided to do a bit of research on the topic. I mean if I want to call myself a blogger then I should know what one is right? So I went to Google and entered 'What does blog stand for?'

And it seems likes it's not just me who wanted to know what it really meant! After seeing that a lot of people were asking the question, I was quite confident that at least one of the search results would have had a decent answer. I WAS WRONG!

Every single answer to the question: 'What does blog stand for?' came back with the same result...

It is an abbreviation of Web Log (weB LOG for those of you who are a little slow :D)

I mean seriously I already knew that much, but the answers never seemed to take the question any deeper and the people asking the question seemed satisfied - but not me! I decided to keep researching to find myself a definition now for 'Web Log'. So as usual I went straight to the source of all knowledge. GOOGLE!

And from my search I found a great way to get multiple definitions of any word. In the Google search box type 'Define:[insert word here]'

Anyway using this method here are just a few was a blog (or web log) is defined:

is an online diary used by an author to share information on a particular subject at regular intervals. - broadband-guide.org.uk/jargon-buster.html

A web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author. - sam.dev.uen.org/core/edtech/glossary.shtml

Also known as a blog and is normally a personal Web Page that allows the public to read a personal journal for an individual. As of late businesses and entrepreneurs have been using them to create paying web page businesses or market their wares and services - leadsales.net/adtermsexplained.htm

What I m reading from this is probably the same as a normal person could have worked out by just observing, but here are my thoughts on 'What does Blog stand for?' and more importantly 'What is a blog?'

* Blogs were initially created for the sole purpose of providing an avenue for people to 'journal' their thoughts online.

* Initially created for individuals

* Meant to be updated regularly

* But now as humans always do, people have worked out how to make blogging into a form of business as well. Meaning that while some bloggers still blog to share their thoughts a new breed of bloggers are blogging with the intent of building a business.

Those are just my initial thoughts from those definitions and I am not saying that either blogging to journal your thoughts or blogging for money is wrong - I am just trying to define it!

Types of Blog Posts

By John Motson

Writing a blog can sometimes get tedious. We have all been there. No matter how much you love your blog and love blogging on your topics of choice, there comes a time when you simply get writer's block and can't put together a worthwhile post.

Before you do something stupid that might alienate some of your readers, you should reference this list as it outlines some of the more common types of posts that you can write on a blog. I put together this list as a reference and have it on my desktop for consideration when I run out of blogging ideas.

Here is the list of post types that currently resides on my desktop:

Personalized posts.

Talk about something from your personal life. This type of post helps your readers empathize with you and feel like you are one of them. Don't overdo it as it can backfire - people can get tired of hearing about your pet turtle every week :).

Discuss a product you like or dislike.

Always fun to do. If you include some affiliate links you may even earn a quick buck as a result of a post like this.

Talk about someone or something you hate.

Nothing better to start a heated discussion then by expressing your honest opinion on a subject. Be careful to not get sued for libel though.

Link Love.

Collect a series of links and talk about them once per week.

Video Posts.

Make a video post talking about a useful topic.

Discuss current events.

Write about a currently popular news story. Current events give you almost an instant flow of traffic via long tail keywords as people search for the topic at the time of writing. Google Trends is an example where you can get tips for latest issues you can discuss. (e.g. On the eve of the American Idol final I made a post discussing the winner that got some 1000 uniques within a day, and continued to get steady traffic for another few weeks).

Break the news about something.

It is important to be the first or one of the first to break a news story as people then link to you in their reference to the news item.

Review blogging.

Review other blogs, stating your honest opinion about them. Owners of the blogs you review might like your review and link back to you.

Survey your readerships.

Ask them questions. It is very important to involve your readers - blogs as a writing medium exist for the conversational nature of a blog post.

Event blogging.

Sharing thoughts and impressions from a conference, event or seminar. There is something really cool about bloggers that attend various events and blog about them. Take pictures and notes, discuss it all on your blog after you get back.

Live blogging.

Blog at a fast pace about an event happening in real time. If you attend a match, an auction, or some other live event and you have your laptop with you, why not blog about it as things happen?

Repost blogging.

Regurgitate quality blog posts from before - no use letting quality content sit in an archive, bring it back for another run :).

Guest posting.

Encourage other bloggers from your niche to guest post on your blog. It is mutually beneficial as you get fresh content for your blog and the guest posters get traffic to their blog. It also helps build long-lasting working relationships with your fellow bloggers.

List blogging.

People love lists. Put together lists of things in your niche "Top 10 Best Goals Of All Time", "Top 10 Hottest Looking Actresses Of All Time", "Top 10 Easter Recipes Of All Time" etc. List posts often become very popular on social bookmarking sites too - more on that later in this text.

Time period overview blogging.

Do a weekly / monthly recap of what you posted about on your blog. These sorts of posts help keep steady traffic to posts that may otherwise not get that much attention as they get buried in the archives.

Why Your Blog Posts Need to Have Order

By LaTara Ham-Ying

I have heard it said that a blog post can be pretty lose when it comes to the rules of writing. To that I say yes and no. I do believe that a blog post should be as personable as you can make it; depending on your audience. Even if you are strictly business, a little of you should always shine through. You don't have to share your life story but I truly believe that all business and no play is a bore.

However, I don't believe that you should write your blog posts any way you want to. I think that there should be a certain order to all things; and while you may not agree, if you have a business blog, a blog that you are using to market affiliate products, or a blog where you want to gain some decent traffic, then you need to make sure that the reader understands what you are saying.

Without order to your blog you risk not being taken serious. Who wants to follow a person who misspells, writes sentences out of order, or talks excessively about a subject that has nothing to do with the focus of the blog. This is why order is so important to all you write: Whether on paper on a cyber notepad. There is nothing more worth the time spent reading then a well written piece of work.

Have you ever read a book and figured out the end before you read it? Or maybe you were able to figure out the sequences of events and so you grew bored and eventually put the book down, never to pick it up again. This is I call a poorly written piece of work. Why?

It fails to get and keep your attention. That is what will happen with your blog if you don't reel your audience in with the proper order. Maybe you think that you are no good at keeping order to your blog content. Perhaps you just don't have the time to take it that serious. After all you need to get that report done for your subscribers and it takes up a lot of your time. Maybe you just need some help.

With the help of a good writer, all you need to do is share your vision and allow them the space to get your blog content in order. If you find yourself unable to order your content so that your blog flows well and keeps a focus, than may it is time to outsource it to someone who can help you with that.

Surefire Ways to Use Posts to Increase Blog Traffic - Frequently Asked Questions

By Keith Goodrum

Traffic is the lifeblood of any blog. With thousands of daily visitors you are king of the hill. However, having 20 or 30 people showing up everyday and your struggling to earn a pittance. Most of us know this, but still are not taking advantage of true power posts can add to your blog. In this article, I will answer some of the most frequently asked questions about increasing blog traffic with posts.

What is one of the best ways to drive traffic to my blog?

By far one of the best ways to drive blog traffic is by posting regularly. This is the biggest advantage of blogs... you have a website that is ready made to accept and organize new content. This is why Google and the other search engines salivate over blogs. They have a constant supply of new, original content they can deliver to people searching for information. The search engines are always on the lookout for new content. If you post regularly Google will get in the habit of indexing your site often. That alone will help increase your traffic.

How can I make my posts a more effective traffic magnet?

OK you've written your blog post, and published it - So that's it right? Not quite, now it's time to give your new blog post a little bit of social love. This is one of the quickest things you can do to add some extra juice to each blog post. Make sure you Social Bookmark as soon as you publish your post. Now, before you run off and bookmark your post to every Social Media site in the know universe... try this instead. The best approach is to pick only 4 or 5 places to bookmark your post. This way you don't look like the king of spam. In this case less is truly more.

Is there anything else I can do to get more out of my posts?

I'm glad you asked. We are now going to use the magic of repurposing to add the final elixir to your post's secret sauce. What is repurposing? That's a fancy word for rewriting the post. Before you groan and get the wrong idea, let me tell you why it's easier to rewrite posts. You see the information is still fresh in your mind, ideas are still swirling around and you've got momentum from writing your post. You've also probably thought of some other points you'd like to make, or even a better way to say what you've just said in your post. That's why rewriting is so much quicker and easier.

As you can imagine adding these strategies to your blogging routine can really stoke the traffic machine. Just throwing into the mix these simple steps will make each blog post much more powerful. So, the next time you write a post don't just hit the publish button, and walk away. Add these extra steps to give each post that little extra push it needs to climb the search engines.

How to Use Blog Keywords

By James Ewing

Here is the situation. You have been working on this blog for about a week or two and you finally finished it. But, now you don't know how to drive traffic to that beautiful blog you just created. What you are going to need are specific blog keywords. These blog keywords are very hard to find sometimes and you don't know where to place them to get the best results.

Here is what I advise you to do. You need to find some way to find out what your competitors are doing that you aren't. You need to figure out what blog keywords these other bloggers are using that you aren't. Once you get these blog keywords it's very easy. You just put them into the text and the headings and titles of your page. What this does is tells the search engine crawlers to look at the heading and titles for the blog keywords so that your page will rank higher on the search engine.

Now why would you care how high you rank on the search engine? The reason for this is very simple. Say your blog is about fast cars. Now you decide that you are going to optimize your page for the blog keywords "fast cars, speed cars". Once you research all the competition and what they are doing you get your page ranking on the first page of google. Now if anyone searches for fast cars on google your page is going to pop up before the other 190,000 pages.

It is not as hard as it sounds. The only part you are going to need help with is finding the correct keywords and being about to read what your competitors are doing. There is very few people that can do all that without a little help from software. I am not one of them.

7 Ways to Advertise For Free on Blog Talk Radio

By Joanne Mason

One of the best ways to advertise your business online for free is by using BlogTalkRadio.com. Anyone who has ever dreamed of being a radio personality can now turn their dream into a reality with Blog Talk Radio. Within minutes you can set up your own radio show about any topic that you desire and broadcast it all over the world at no cost. In this article I will share with seven more ways to advertise your business your business online for free at BlogTalkRadio.com.

1. Volunteer to Be a Guest on Other Shows - One common denominator that all of the hosts on Blog Talk Radio share is the constant need for material. If you have a great product, service or event to broadcast you could easily get some needed publicity by volunteering to be the guest on another show. Just take a look through the category directory and find shows with a description that matches whatever you're offering. Contact the host and let him or her know about your product and set up a joint venture where the host gets commission sales and you get more customers from promoting your product on the show.

2. Blog and RSS Marketing - In my opinion the absolute best feature about BlogTalkRadio.com is the blogging and RSS marketing elements. This site is like blogging on steroids so you need to be strategic in planning your shows and blog post in order to make the most of what Blog Talk Radio truly offers. Every page and tag is rss enabled with well targeted titles and rss tags it's very easy to get indexed and ranked on the search engines for your prime keyword phrases within just a few hours. Did I mention that this is all free?

3. Social Networking - Another great element of Blog Talk Radio is the social networking opportunity. With an estimated 3.4 million listeners as of September 2008, Blog Talk Radio is certainly much smaller than most of the social networks that you're probably accustomed. However, there's a big benefit hiding in those small number that you may not find on larger social sites and that's the chance to actually get to know someone and make a real connection. According to Compete.com, their July 2008 statistics show that BlogTalkRadio.com has an average audience engagement time of 18 minutes and 04 seconds. That means that the average unique visitor stays on BlogTalkRadio.com for more than 18 minutes per visit. That's more than a minute and a half longer than most people stay on Myspace.com and almost twice as long at a visitors stays at Google.com. More time spent at your website gives you more opportunities to advertise for free. It also increases the bond between you and your potential customers so that they feel more secure about the possibility of spending money with you.

4. Podcasting - Blog Talk Radio allows you to set up your account so that your shows can automatically be turned into podcasts. From there you can use syndicate your podcast to dozens of directories using PodPusher.com.

5. Use an Opt In Form - One very powerful way to get lots if free advertising out of BlogTalkRadio.com is to add your optin form to your profile. This is another way to build your mailing list so that you can advertise anytime you want. Surprisingly, I don't see very many people on BlogTalkRadio doing this yet but it's certainly something that you want to start taking advantage of.

6. Add Product or Affiliate Links - Here's another big opportunity that Blog Talk Radio gives you to get free advertising. You can add your own list of links to your profile. This is similar to a blogroll. You just go into the Options tab under Setting then scroll down to where it says "Links listed on my profile page" to add links to the sites that you want to promote.

7. Feature Your Own Show - BlogTalkRadio.com media kit says that the site receives an estimated 400,000 unique monthly visitors. Being listed on the front page of BTR as a Featured Show could bring a good hunk of that traffic to your website. There's a form under the settings option on your host account that you can fill in to request to be a featured show. Keep in mind that only very best shows will be featured so it's a good idea to wait until you develop a really go show before making this request. In the meantime, just keep working making your show better and using all of these other methods.

If you're looking for effective ways to advertise your business online for free then I hope that the methods offered in this article are helpful to you and you will take advantage of this great opportunity to use BlogTalkRadio.com.

Who Do You Write For?

By Gary R. Hess

Many times we get caught up in writing for a specific group, whether it be for search engines, linkbait, or subscribers. This can lead to several problems down the road.

Writing for...

Search engines - Writing for search engines is using SEO techniques within the title and finding keywords you will easily rank for.

Linkbait - Writing for linkbait is writing articles which you believe has a chance at getting picked up in social media or baiting other blogs to link back.

Subscribers - Writing for subscribers is when you publish articles specifically for your subscribers. This can be answering questions, following up posts, year in review posts, or link posts highlighting other websites.

How to get around this by alternation.

Writing linkbait everyday is a sure-fire way of annoying subscribers, and writing an SEO based article has its own limitations. The problem isn't necessarily the writing, but a basic SEO rule. Classic SEO tells us to have only the keywords within the title, since any additional words take away weight. Obviously, for blogs this is a problem. Having an article titled 'Love Quotes' isn't nearly as enticing for subscribers or linkbait as 'Top 100 Love Quotes from St. Peter'.

Writing specifically for subscribers also has its faults. Gaining new readers can become difficult by catering only to those already subscribed.

Go around the hump

The easiest way to get around this is by combining as many as possible. When answering a readers question, stretch it out into an entire article. While you are at it, go ahead and sprinkle some SEO in the title. Why not turn it into linkbait too?

What?!?

Although classic SEO doesn't cater to linkbait, it is best to do so. The positives of writing a linkbait article with keywords far outweigh the negatives.

As for catering to subscribers, it doesn't always have to be writing articles directly at them. Write something new and exciting. Show something they haven't read or seen elsewhere. Tell them about the latest, newest news with your own spin. Don't just regurgitate articles other blogs threw up last November.

Of course, this doesn't mean all articles must be this way. Mix it up! One day, linkbait, next day, SEO, next, subscribers.

In short, combine your strategies and diversify. It's like the old saying, don't put all your eggs in the same basket.
