3 Stepping Stones to Building a Popular Blog

By Terry Philpott

Are you serious about building a popular blog? Want your site to stand out from all the rest? There are numerous ways in which we can structure our blog for the search engines, and endless options we can select to advertise products or services. What we need to concern ourselves with is FIRST getting visitors to our blog site and then getting them to keep returning.

With all the courses offered on how to deal with the technical aspects of blogging we often times overlook the 3 distinct areas that help create and sustain popular blogs: the right niche, good content, and uniqueness.

Let's examine these 3 areas to better understand their importance in establishing the foundation for a successful Blog.

1. Niche Selection

This is the starting point for any blog. Selecting your topic on which you are to blog about is crucial being if there isn't enough interest in the subject to begin with you can assume your blogging success will be minimal at best.

Research is an area where you can't necessarily spend too much time. The probability of your blogging success will be based upon how accurate your research is. Determining the popularity of your subject is crucial. Selecting an overly popular subject will increase your competition which means working harder for smaller profits. Ideally you want to focus on a subject that has a good demand (around 75,000 per month on Google) and preferably a subject you have an interest in since this will make your work seem more like fun and less like work.

2. Maintaining Quality Content

Once you have your blog up and running you should be utilizing various methods to attract visitors. Here is where you want to make your visitors appreciate your blog site. Posting good quality content regularly will pay you dividends from a higher rate of readers returning to your blog. Your content should be useful, entertaining, or interesting for your readers.

Soon your site will benefit from additional traffic due to referrals from your current subscribers. This increase in traffic will in turn be noticed by the search engines who'll reward your blog with a higher ranking in the results when people are looking for information related to your niche.

3. Uniqueness

In a word this is what will make your blog stand out from the others. Your uniqueness in tone, presentation, humor, color schemes, or possibly layout will identify your blogging platform as distinctly you. The use of audio, video, pictures, or perhaps caricatures will lend more distinction to your blog site. Don't be afraid to let your personality show. You have a global audience at your fingertips, take advantage of it.

In building a popular blog we always need to keep in mind the more human aspects of blogging itself. Don't get so caught up in the technical aspects that you lose sight of this. Remember we're writing to inform, entertain, or appeal to flesh and blood readers and not machines.

5 Top Secret Steps When Blogging to the Bank

By Patrik Gisselsson

There are multiple ways of making money online. One cheap and effective way is to make use of blogs. Even if most people know what a blog is nowadays, the general view is often that they are only used as a fun "diary" to share people's opinions. If someone makes money it's a schoolgirl that happened to have luck writing about a popular topic.

For those few who know the full potential of this money making medium also know that it's not just setting up a blog and watch the money flow into your bank account. Yes, it takes a bit of luck as well as a lot of work and effort in order to be successful but if you are consistent, determined and work for a long term strategy, you will be rewarded.

For people that haven't a clue about blogs and blogging, a free blogging service like blogger.com is advised to start up with and learn the ropes. However, if you are serious about blogging, you should look at registering your own domain and get a hosting account for your blog as soon as possible.

I will hereby grant you 5 secret steps to build a money making blog. You need a good mix of research, setup, optimization, monetization and traffic driving tactics in order to make your blog successful.

1. Research Phase - Find a niche that people are willing to spend money in and you are comfortable to work with. To come up with ideas go through popular Magazines in Amazon, Popular products in Ebay and most published/viewed articles in Ezinearticles. Choose a subniche that has at least 10-500 searches a day in Wordtracker and under 10.000 competing pages when searching for the main keyword in Google. Also check Clickbank and Commission junction to see if there are good products that match the keywords.

3. Setting up your Blog - A keyword rich domain name does wonders with Google so choose wisely. For the niche golf swings you could choose a domain name like improvemygolfswings.com. The recommended blogging platform to install is Wordpress. Optimize the blog with at least the following plugins: All-in-One SEO Pack, Google XML Sitemaps, Akismet, Feedburner, Google Analytics and Auto Social.

3. Populate your Blog - Choose 2-3 main keyword phrases to start optimizing your blog for. Use phrases that you gathered from the research phase to find content for your blog by searching Ezinearticles, technorati, PRweb, forums, magazines and books. You can also use Google Alerts to receive daily keyword specific articles. Make daily posts by rewriting the content you gathered in your own style or just adding your comments under the article. Don't just copy other peoples work. Include keywords in the title, body and header tags but don't over optimize the posts.

4. Monitize your blog - with products from Clickbank and Commission Junction. Sprinkle affiliate links in posts and banners in the sidebar. Use common sense and don?t make it look like a big advertisement blog. 1-2 Products to start with are enough but you could also do a review page with 3 top products in the niche.

5. Traffic Driving Strategies: Submit Articles to Ezinearticles, Goarticles, Isnare and other article directories. You can also use an article submission service to automate this. Submit your RSS feed to RSS services such as Feedage, Feedagg, Feedfury and Feedsubmitter. Bookmark each post you make in sites like Digg, Stumble Upon, Del.icio.us and Propeller. Socialmarker is a good service for this. Comment on other People?s blogs and make use of free services like Squidoo, Hubpages, Weebly and Blogger to create article pages that link back to your blog.

If you are persistent and keep doing the traffic generation tactics mentioned above you will soon see a boost in visitors and hopefully a good amount of revenue stream. Always strive for good quality content that enriches the users experience and update your blog regularly.

If your blog doesn't perform as well after doing all of the above tactics for a month or two, you could turn down the effort and some Adsense on it instead. Repeat the process on a new blog. All blogs does not become successful and some take a long time to do, by having a couple of blogs out there you will spread your chance of hitting a gold mine.

The highly successful million dollar blogger Rob Benwell teaches a lot of secret strategies in his latest e-book, Blogging to the Bank 3.0. This guide is gold worth for someone just starting up but also includes a lot of tricks for the more experienced bloggers. Another tip is Andrew Hansen's excellent product: Firepow, a top notch tool which helps you automate the setup of a blog with the right plugins, getting content, optimize posts and promote all your blogs within a single easy to use web interface.

Patrick is an avid blogger and owner of a dozens of blogs and websites. In blogpostingsoftwares.com he recommends people to read the Blogging to the Bank 3 e-book and take a look at his Firepow Review.

Successfully Marketing Your Blog - An Overview

By Larry McCullough

So, you have decided to get serious about drawing traffic to your blog and hopefully making some money in the process. If so, you probably already know that marketing is the first major step toward building a successful income with your blog. At the same time, understanding how to successfully market your blog is a completely different animal. In fact, it can be downright frightening and even costly if you don't know how to go about it the right way.

There are three major ways you can go about marketing your blog. These include:

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

Social Networking

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Techniques

Within each of these categories, there are numerous techniques and methods you can use to successfully draw more traffic to your blog. At the same time, it is important for you to complete some market research before you begin using any of these methods. Otherwise, you can waste a great deal of your time and money on marketing techniques that do not yield any real results.

Conducting market research involves getting to know your target audience in order to provide your audience with what it needs. In other words, you need to "get inside the heads" of those people you are hoping to reach with your blog. You can accomplish this by conducting surveys and polls on your blog as well as by visiting other blogs and forums that are frequented by your target group.

During the market research stage of marketing, you should not focus on participating in blog and forum discussions. Rather, spend some time as a "lurker" who simply reads the posts of the community members. This way, you can get a better idea of the personalities of your target group as well as the problems they are facing.

Getting to understand the needs of your target audience is the key to building a successful marketing campaign. After all, if your blog will only be successful it is able to fulfill a need. This need may be social in nature or it may provide information to the reader that helps the reader in his or her relationships, career, hobbies or other area. For example, if you are writing a blog about being a single father, it is important for you to understand the concerns and problems that single fathers face. That way, you can gear your blog posts toward addressing those needs.

Once you have successfully created a profile of your target audience, you will be able to better determine how to market your blog in a way that will bring targeted traffic to your site. In that way, you will be better capable of monetizing your blog or simply creating a meaningful community for your target audience if that is your goal.

How to Explain Blogging

By Ken G Jones

What is the best way to explain blogging? For people who have been blogging for long now, this might sound quite funny. But people who are only discovering blogging will indeed want others to explain blogging to them.

Simply Explain Blogging

Without much ado, tell the facts straight and explain blogging. To explain blogging start with a definition. Well, the word "blog" is short for "web log." Many define it as a journal or a newsletter that's regularly updated. It is, of course, readily available on the internet.

It contains an account of a topic that's of interest to the author. It could be something personal or about anything else under the sun. It also contains photos, videos and links to other blogs and websites. Typically, the most recent entry would be found on top of the blog. There would also be a list of past entries on the side normally classified by date.

To explain blogging further, people are allowed to make comments on blogs. Such feature though can be turned off or moderated by the blogger.

Explain Blogging and How to Make a Blog Popular

To explain blogging completely, one should also tell a newbie how to make his blog popular. Having a blog doesn't mean getting read by the entire World Wide Web. A blogger needs to work on promoting his blog to make it popular.

This is a very important aspect when asked to explain blogging. If one wants to promote a business or a product, he must market his blog. He must have as many back links to his blog. He can make links as a signature in forums. He can exchange links with other blogs too.

Explain blogging in a way that will help the newbie blogger most. If it's for personal purposes only, his interest might be on how to share his blog with family and friends. It is perhaps the best way to explain blogging to the person.

But again, if he wants to promote or sell something one must explain blogging to the person in a more comprehensive way. Search engine optimization should also be explained to make his blog more profitable.

They have to comment on other blogger's posts and they must know how to exchange links with these bloggers. This is the best way to attract numerous readers.

So the next time someone ask you a basic question like 'how do I start blogging', don't limit your explanation to the technical aspects. You have to introduce the novice blogger to the essence of blogging.

What's So Great About Blogging?

By Justin D Scarborough

It seems like everyone on Earth has a blog these days. From CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, to the teenager down the street, everybody is blogging about something. While there are many different reasons for starting a blog, there has been a rapidly growing trend with webmasters to add blogs to any and every website they have. Why do this? It's simple, the search engines love blogs!

As a webmaster, the way to keep the search engines interested in your site is to keep your content fresh. This isn't always easy or even necessary. If your website is designed to promote and sell your product, there's a good chance you won't need to update it very often. When the search engines see that the site is only being updated every few weeks, it will schedule its crawler to visit the website accordingly. This can be bad for webmasters as it can take weeks for newly added content to be picked up.

Adding a blog to an otherwise static website can help solve this problem and give the search engines a reason to visit a website more often. Blogs have quickly gained favorability with the search engines for several reasons. They are generally relatively simple in construction and programming and can be quickly and easily crawled and indexed. More importantly, they are full of fresh content and information. Blog platforms like Blogger.com and Wordpress have made it so easy to add content, that webmasters can update their blogs several times a week with very little effort. Most blog platforms will even allow for automatic "pinging" of the major search engines in order to let them know that the blog has been updated and needs to be revisited.

Once the search crawler comes to the site to index the new blog content, it will often look to the sitemap to see what other pages have been added or updated. This allows webmasters to get their new content indexed much more quickly than having to wait weeks for the spider to make its regular rounds. Given the benefits of better site indexing and increased relevant content, it is almost crazy not to have a blog on your website today. A Wordpress blog can be installed in less than five minutes and posts can be added in a similar timeframe. If you haven't embraced blogs yet, don't wait too long or you will continue to miss out on the easy web traffic.

Free Blogs and Website Promotion

By John Browning

Free blogs are used by many Internet marketing experts to promote their websites and products. Free blogs can not only be a means of advertising your brand name, but they can also be used to funnel traffic which converts and results in more sales. And then, you can always use pay per click ads or promote affiliate products on your blog or sell sponsored reviews and earn more. In this article we will briefly see what is a blog, why blogs are so popular and how to setup a free blog which can then be used to promote your website.

To start from the basics, a blog or weblog is a website where the owner (or the blogger) writes his/her ideas just like a diary or journal. Blogs are very popular because they have a personal touch. People are always interested in what other people think/do. This is basic human tendency and this is what makes blogs so popular. In the beginning of the blogging era, blogs used to be solely about personal things. However, now things have changed. More and more business establishments have blogs where they provide customers with information on new developments and products.

Blogs have many advantages over traditional HTML sites. Blogs are supposed to be updated every once in a few days. For this reason, search engines like Google love blogs. You might have come across blog posts in the top 10 search engine positions for many popular keywords clearly demonstrating that fact that search engines really love blogs. Blogs also have other advantages like built in RSS feeds. And then, creating / updating a blog is very easy provided you use the correct blogging platform like Blogger or Wordpress. In fact, it does even need any knowledge in HTML: if you can use MS Word, you can blog!

Creating a blog is not rocket science. There are many free blog hosting services like Blogger [www.blogger.com] and Wordpress [www.wordpress.com]. There may be others, but currently these are the best. Blogger is owned by Google while Wordpress is owned by a company called Automattic. If you were to ask me to choose one of them, I will go for Blogger as it is well integrated with Adsense. Well! Since Google owns Blogger, when it comes to search engine rankings it must be partial to blogs hosted there! You also have a choice to host a blog on your own domain. All you have to do is create a sub-domain like blog.yourdomain.com and install a blogware like Wordpress there and get blogging. However, I would prefer a blog hosted on a free blog hosting service. I will explain the reason later.

Once you create a blog, the first thing you should do is to do reciprocal linking between your site and blog. If your site has already been indexed, your blog will get indexed too in a short period of time. Usually it takes a few days for the search engines bots to arrive and index the contents of your blog. You can also do a little promotion to get your blog indexed faster. I will suggest two time tested methods: 1) Join an online forum and put a link to your blog in the signature and 2) Submit your blog to a few web directories. Forums get spidered daily and so your blog will get crawled and indexed in no time. Forums can also get you some traffic as other forum members may be interested in your blog. When it comes to directory submissions, an important note: Don't submit to too many directories in a short period of time. Search engines may equate this to link spamming and blacklist your blog or even ban it altogether.

Next, you should concentrate on creating quality content. You should always target keywords that are moderately popular. If you develop content without targeting specific keywords, you will not get enough traffic. This is why you should always keep keywords in mind while developing content for your blog. There are many free keyword research tools available. I use the free version of Wordtracker [http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com] to do my homework. There may be other tools available but I believe that the free version of Wordtracker is more than enough to get an idea about the keywords to be used.

Select key phrases that have three or more words i.e. long tail keywords as it is easier to optimize your blog for these keywords. While writing the content, ensure that the selected keywords get repeated evenly and the keyword density is just right. Also put the keywords in bold, italics, H1, H2 tags, etc. This helps in obtaining better search engine placements. Writing content is not difficult, but it does take sometime to write. If you do not have the time or patience to write, consider outsourcing it. You can easily hire a freelance writer for as low as $4/400 words. Give him/her the keywords and provide instructions as to what you need and you should have no problem in getting a good number of articles in a short span of time.

Update your blog often. Try to post at least 10 or more posts a month which makes one post for every three days. Also include images in your blog posts to get traffic from image search. Once you start getting traffic from search engines, try to funnel it to your main site. Apart from direct traffic, your blog will also act as a quality backlink to your site. As you may be aware, search engines rank sites on the basis of the number of relevant backlinks. If you use a free blog hosting service, the IP address of your blog will be different from that of your main site. Search engines give prominence to links from different IP addresses. This is why you would recommend using a free blog hosting service in place of hosting a blog on a sub-domain.

You can also monetize your blog traffic directly. You can add Adsense ads to your blog. If you use Blogger.com adding Adsense is much easier as it is integrated in your blog control panel. You can also write reviews/recommendations about affiliate products from Clickbank.com, etc. Whenever, someone buys those products from your links, you will get a commission ranging anywhere from 30% to 75%. And then you can always sell sponsored posts or paid reviews. There are endless ways to monetize a blog that gets good amounts of traffic!

Why Blogging is So Popular

By Jim DiLivio

Blogging has become lately one of the most popular activities people do on the internet. You might ask yourself why blogging is useful and to whom. First of all you have to know that there are different types of blogs. There are personal blogs that people use in order to express their feelings, their opinions regarding certain subjects or regarding their life. There are also some kinds of blogs that contain important news from different domains like politics, economics, fashion, sports, weather etc. All in all, you can find almost everything on these blogs. But blogs are not only a source of information. You will be surprised to see how many advantages a blog can bring.

Since blogs appeared, the relationship between companies on the market and their customers has seriously improved. Throw blogs, companies receive almost instant opinions from the people they sell their products to. That is why they can adapt their strategies and improve the quality of their services more rapidly.

Blogs create links between people and between different products. You will always find on a blog some related links that will prove to be very useful in case you want to find out more information about a subject. In time, you can discover new people that share with you the same passions and believes. This is how you have the chance to meet new people and make new friends from all over the world.

The great part about blogs is that they always give you access to the archive. In other words, everything that appears in a blog remains in there. The archive is organized chronologically so that it can make your search easier. The database is enormous and as I said before, it is almost impossible not to find what you're looking for.

A blog maintains your company's image. A well-done blog is a sign of responsibility, credibility, hard work and interest for the customers. Media will also react positively to blogs and websites, mostly when a company with prestige is involved.

A blog sells your products better. Companies can reach their clients easier and the impact is much higher. When people are visiting a blog they find essential information about products and they can also see pictures of them. They don't have to waist time on going to the store and buying those things. They just give a click on the item and they see it and then they can order it and receive it at home.

Moreover, companies can make a lot of money by selling their free space for publicity. Use your advertising space in order to make money. This is how you can drag the attention of other people too and make them become your customers as well.

The main idea is that companies should invest more in their blogs because they can bring them a lot more profit. A high quality blog is the guarantee for success. Nowadays, the technology has rapidly evolved and that is why companies have to adapt to new needs that people have. A blog is a modern type of strategy, but its efficacy is much higher than the classic ones.

Does Blog Marketing Work?

By J Hutchinson

What is blog marketing? In reality a blog site is a free website. By submitting frequent posts full of original quality content, you can attract visitors and rank with the search engines. You use this to promote your business as you would an ordinary website.

There are millions of blogs online today with seemingly hundreds starting up each week. My question is why?

Answer. Money! All these people think that blogging is the missing link in their online business success. In fact they are encouraged in this by many experts online. Now, it seems that everyone is 'blogging for money'. You see, blogs are so simple to start that a pre-teen could start one.

However, there is a downside to blogging. It takes a lot of time to keep up regular posts and drive traffic to your blog, and a lot of effort to convert some of these into paying customers.

After a few days you begin to realize that the money is not flowing in. You have probably spent a lot of time working on your new blog and have not made a single penny. It's about now that you realize that this is about hard work.

If you are not making money and you put a value on your time you are now losing money every time you sit down and post to your blog. If you spend 30 minutes a day posting to your blog, you will spend 15 hours in a month and have nothing to show for it.

However, don't despair.

A really good blog is one that, once you start it, you would keep it up if you never made any money at it. The reasons for this are that the topic of the blog is a passion for you. It is not meant to be just about marketing. You should have an interest in the subject matter. You should be an expert in what you write about and your expertise shows.

Your readers come back over and over to see what you will say next. They pull out their credit card to buy a product you recommend. They click on a Google ad or subscribe to a newsletter. It is much easier when your blog is kept up to date with useful information. Do this and you will avoid the downside to blogging.

However that's the problem. You have to be passionate about your subject and you have to keep it updated regularly. Most of us will never write one post a day let alone one per month. The Internet is cluttered with blogs that were started with good intentions and abandoned like an orphan.

If you can combine your passion with hard work you can blog for money. However the money side of it should appear to your visitors to be somewhat secondary - almost an after thought.

Blogging is work. Don't be the victim of the downside to blogging. If your prime purpose is blog marketing and it doesn't work immediately, then persevere. Make a commitment to post at least once a week instead of daily. If you are passionate, this should be achievable

Secrets Revealed - Can You Really Make Money From Your Blog?

By Fabian Tan

Over the years I have fielded many questions from people who wanted to make money online but were unsure how to start. More recently the question that I receive most often is how to make money from your blog. Before you can answer the question of how you need to answer the question can you make money from your blog? To answer this there are a couple of things you need to consider:

#1: Does your Blogging Service allow you to make money from your blog?

While there are quite a few blogs services available for use at no cost to the blog writer, in most cases there is a tradeoff to be had. Some of these services do not allow any outside ads to be placed on your blog because those services make their money from advertising revenue and your ads would compete with theirs.

#2: Is the subject of your blog conducive to making money?

While the beauty of Blogging is that you can write on any topic you choose, there are topics that don't lend themselves readily to any sort of monetization. If yours is one of these blogs you might consider creating a second blog that is more easily aligned with advertising. Alternatively you should consider the use of keywords as a way to increase your search engine footprint and your traffic. The more search engine traffic you are able to acquire, the more likely you are to make money from your blog because more viewers means more spending potential.

Increase Blog Traffic - 5 Top Ways to Blast More Traffic to Your Blog

By Fabian Tan

After you have decided to put up your own blog and write your thoughts for others to read, you may wonder what else it takes to maintain a blog. It is important to keep in mind that whatever topic you blog about, the task does not stop the moment you have successfully posted your entry. Clearly, you would want to have people actually read your entries and to gain as much following as possible. To improve readership and increase traffic to your blog, the following simple rules must be noted:

1. Create quality content with every post. Readers who have found your site uninteresting the first time will not bother visiting it again. Posting a mixed bag of topics that your target audience can relate to will keep their interest alive.

2. Update your blog. Join the conversation; don't stay out of it. Add new entries regularly. No one would want to keep visiting a blog if takes a month before a new post comes up.

3. Allow your readers to post comments after your entries so you can receive immediate feedback as well as establish connection. Do not shy away from readers; embrace them.

4. Participate in an online community. Find blogs or forums that share a similar content with yours. Leave interesting comments and, of course, include the link to your blog, either in the message itself or in your signature, so they can visit you after.

5. Submit articles to online article directories. This has proven to be a very effective blog marketing tool. Readers, who will find your submitted articles interesting, will also find their way to your blog.

To significantly increase traffic to your blog, you will need to do a bit of marketing. Remember, patience is key; it will not happen overnight but your efforts will pay rich dividends once your blog's popularity shoots up. This will earn you not only money but a host of new friends as well.

Blog Traffic Tips - How to Increase Traffic to Your Blog in 3 Foolproof Steps!

By Fabian Tan

The key to making money with your blog is to increase traffic to your blog and there are several ways to do this; most of them simple, easy and imminently doable. Why not try it out? Once you take your first step you will find that the going is easier than you thought.

Step 1- Set Up

The first step is to set up a fun and informative blog title and add great posts on a frequent basis. Make sure your blog posts are written well and cover topics that your readers will enjoy. Also be sure to use keywords that are relevant to your topic throughout your post. This will help search engines link to your posts when someone is searching for that topic. You should also add pictures to your posts. This not only gives your page a higher viewing pleasure, it also will help if someone searches the internet for a specific photo.

Step 2- Submit

Once you have your site up and running, you can submit it to numerous sites on the web to increase traffic. You should always submit to the popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo. You can also add your site to web pages using a link or submit your blog to sites like Reddit or Stumbleupon to attract new visitors. If you use sites like Myspace and Facebook, you can also list your blogs there as well. The best thing to do is simply list the link instead of your posts. Always offer your readers an RSS feed as well, so they will know when you add new content.

Step 3- Manage

Once your site is up and running, it is all about management. Make sure you respond to all comments left on your post. Your readers are more likely to come back if they know their opinions are valued. When reading other bloggers content, make sure you leave a link back to your own if you have relevant content. If your blog contains information on a similar topic as another post, don't be afraid to add a link to that person's page. These links will help each of you get noticed and it may offer you the opportunity to be viewed by some of the other people's visitors.

Affiliate Marketing 101 - How to Make Money With Blogs

By Earl Stringer

Affiliate marketing can be a very profitable method for making money online. A true affiliate marketer knows how to sell their affiliate products using many different techniques. This article will discuss one very effective but seldom used tool that can increase your affiliate sales dramatically. What I am talking about is blogs.

By now, the average computer user and internet marketer has heard of blogs. The thing that a lot of affiliate marketers do not know is how powerful blogs can be as a money making tool. It is true that if you do not know how to use a blog in the right ways for making money, they can be absolutely worthless to an affiliate. If used correctly, a properly run blog can generate a consistent stream of income.

Listed below are some ways that you can make money with a blog. If you apply each one of these tips to your blog you will see more sales as an affiliate.

Have A Good Blog Name - You should name your blog something relevant to whatever you are promoting. If applicable, use keyword rich words in your title because this will help your blog show up in search engines.

Post Keyword Rich Entries - As an affiliate, good keyword searching is important. You should have a good list of keywords for the product that you are promoting. Use those words as much as you can in every blog post. This once again will help your blog show up in the search engines.

Post Frequent - Get into a habit of posting I or 2 blog posts a week. This will increase your blogs visibility and opportunity for more sales.

Disguise Your Affiliate Link - Every entry that you post should have a link in it that should direct the reader to your affiliate sales page. You may want to disguise your affiliate link because most are ugly looking. All you need to do is go to tiny url.com and convert your affiliate link into a much more professional looking one.

Put Banners On Your Blog - Put banners that have your affiliate link in them. This will drive more traffic from your blog to your sales page.

Use AdSense - This will easily put some extra money in your pocket from your blog. All you need to do is set up a free Google AdSense account and place the code given to you on your blog and start getting paid.

Use Pantomimic - Every time you make a post you should go to pantomimic.com and ping it all across the internet. This will bring more traffic to your blog, leading to more views, leading to more sales.

If used properly, a blog can be used as a real money maker for any affiliate marketer. Apply the tips listed above and watch your commissions increase.

5 Winning Ways to Slam Out Traffic Pulling Blog Content

By Daniel Waser

If you're trying to get more eyeballs on your blog and more cash in your pocket, then there's one thing that fuels traffic and income...good content!

I'm going to cover the pillars to creating good quality, magnetic blog content that will bring in traffic, fans and fortunes if you stick with it for a few weeks.

1. Killer titles

If your goal is to get ranked in the search engines, you need to obviously focus on getting your keywords in your title. However, you also need to balance this with actually creating titles that people want to click on and read. Use controversy, mystery, benefits and breaking news as the triggers for all of your titles. If you can ask a question within your title, even better.

2. Make it "scan-able"

Nobody reads full articles in these hectic times, not generally speaking anyway. Even your biggest blog fan will have times when they need the meat from your content without being told about how poorly your cat is. So use bullet points, sub headlines, accents etc. Make sure you break up large paragraphs so it appears less daunting to read in one sitting.

3. Controversy

Nothing gets more attention (and raving loyal fans) than a person who speaks their mind and kicks up a little dust every now and then. Speak to your audience, don't just be another "me too blogger". Just make sure you don't say anything derogatory which could lead to legal troubles.

4. Use pictures

You only have to look at all the news papers every day and it's clear to see how important images are. They have the ability to sum up an entire article and can also stimulate emotion or provoke a response. Also, it's a proven fact that people are drawn to images first, and then their eyes will gravitate to the caption underneath the image. Guess what that caption could be? Yep, an affiliate link or advert perhaps?

5. Use lists

Also referred to in the blogosphere as utility posts. The types of posts that are often a "Top 10 Ways To..." or "The 7 Things You Need To..." and so on. These are great because they are not only easy to read, but also useful for the reader too.

There you have it - a simple 5 step plan to creating content that is not only worth reading, but can result in increased revenue and more visitors to your site in general. But there's a lot more to wealthy blogging that just great content, which is impossible to cover in the article alone.

3 Ways to Turn Your Blog Into an Automated Money Machine

By Daniel Waser

You may already know how to drive large amounts of traffic to your blog through basic SEO practices and through creating outstanding content. But what's the use in all of that if you're never getting any decent money from your blog at the end of the day?

Sure, some people do this for nothing but poops and giggles, but for the enterprising individual that I am sure you are, we must look at ways to add revenue to our blogs to actually turn blogging into a successful business.

Before we do, it's important to realize that there's nothing ethically or morally wrong with monetizing your blog. After all, the products you sell or ads you run from your blog will be aimed to help your readers, and it's their decision to engage in them at the end of the day.

So, let's look at the various ways to extract some easy money from your blog:

1. AdSense

This is the old classic that still holds true for many bloggers. Because AdSense is so easy to implement into your site, and because the quality of the ads (and relevance) is so high, there's a lot of potential to get lots of clicks from running this simple script on your site. However, this might not exactly allow you to quit your day job just yet, unless you have a serious amount of traffic coming in to your blog daily.

2. Affiliate Programs

There's no end of products you can promote as an affiliate and in many cases (particularly with digital download sales) you can earn a significant share of the revenue, sometimes up to 100% in a few cases. It's really just a case of finding a good affiliate network, signing up and picking products to promote that tie in with your blog content. The more you hand pick individual products to promote based on individual posts, the higher your revenue will be. Don't just slap one product on the sidebar; you need to actively presell the product by talking about it, and the problems it solves.

3. Selling Advertising Space

Just like making money from AdSense ads on your blog, there needs to be substantial (and targeted) traffic to your blog in order for you to attract media buyers (the people who buy the ad space from your site). Furthermore, advertisers will want to know precise demographics of your average blog readers, such as their age, location and reading habits (how long they stay on your site and what they respond to in terms of your content and other ads). You can get this information by visiting Quantcast.com and using their scripts to gather all of this data from your blog, which you can then present to interested buyers of ad space on your blog.

These are just some of the ways to attract revenue from your site. Each of the above methods does of course require more training in order for you to reach your maximum profit potential and beyond.

Blogging For Profit - Guest Blogging on Popular Blogs

By Craig S. Andrews

If you are new to blogging, there are surely a number of successful blogs that you admire. These admired blogs probably have significant readership. More than likely, you probably wish you could have a portion of their readership. Well, such a wish can be facilitated. There is a way you can have a portion of such a blog's readership. You simply need to tap into the huge volume of traffic this blog possesses. And, yes, there is a way and it comes in the form of guest blogging for profit.

As the title of this article indicates, you would simply write a blog entry for the popular blog. Ok, perhaps we are making this sound a little easier than it is. You simply can't post a blog entry on someone else's blog unless they give you a green light. The thing is, some of these popular blogs will give you a green light to write for them. These blogs would be those that accept unsolicited submissions from readers. If you come across such a blog and have an article that would pique their interest they might be inclined to publish your blog submission. Of course, you would add a link to your own blog at the end of your article. Usually, this would be placed in a brief bio of the guest blogger. ("To read more from AUTHOR check out BLOG URL) A free link would be a fair trade off for an excellent blog article. Of course, your article would have to be very interesting and well written to be accepted but that is a given.

Now, you do not have to direct traffic to a blog. You could also send it to a website you publish or any other online venue that your are promoting. But, if the link directs itself to a site that is a wee bit overly commercial ("Get paid to fill out surveys!") you may find your link nixed. Just use a little common sense in this regard and things will work out fine.

How to Blog - 3 Tips on What to Post About on Your Blog When You Can't Think of What to Write About

By Connie Ragen Green

Deciding on what to write about on your blog can be very difficult for people, especially if you are new to blogging. Even if you have been a blogger for some period of time, the day will always arise when you just can't think of what to write. This has happened to me when I am very tired, have just finished writing several articles on unrelated topics, or have just completed an eBook or short report, regardless of the topic.

There are several good ways to remedy this situation. One way that I use to have fresh new content on my blogs at all times is to ask other people to be guest bloggers. This gives them an opportunity to write about what they are doing and to share their expertise with a whole new group of readers. I tell them to promote whatever they like, and be sure to include information on where the readers can find out more about them in the future. It is a win-win-win for me, the other blogger, as well as the readers.

Another way is to go to an article directory, such as Ezine Articles, and find articles in the categories that would be a good fit for your blog. Anyone who publishes their articles in these directories is giving their permission for the articles to be used on other sites, such as blogs, websites, and in ezines.

The only rule you must adhere to is that you must include the person's resource box from the end of the article, which includes information about them and the link to their site, or to wherever they wish for the reader to go once they have read the article. I find the best written and most compatible articles, and then use them on my own blogs. This again helps me, the writer of the article, and the readers.

The third way to find new ideas to write about on your own blog is to read other blogs on your topic, which you should be doing anyway, and write blog posts that discuss the other person's post. You can include a link to that exact post, which is called the permalink (short for permanent link). Also, you may want to send a trackback to the author of the other blog, letting them know you have discussed their post on your blog. This is a great way to connect with the other blogger, which may lead to an even greater connection in the future.

These are three ways to write blog posts when you just cannot think of what to write about any other way, and they are all beneficial to others at the same time. This makes your blog even better, and increases your credibility and visibility at the same time.

WordPress Blogs - Five Essentials to Get Started With Your WordPress Blog

By Cathy Perkins

Essential 1

Pick your domain name and buy it. As of recently, there were more than a hundred million domain names registered. That's a lot, but not all of the good ones are gone. So start at domaintools.com, and start searching for your perfect domain name.

Whatever you do, get a dot com domain unless you have reason to get something else. Customers and people on the Internet just automatically default to dot com; they think that everything is dot com. So what if you got a dot net, because your dot com wasn't available, and it was one of your competitors? Well, a person browsing the web might just type in that name plus dot com and go right to your competitor. So, that's not very cool. You need to get the dot com domain name. You can go to GoDaddy or your current registrar to register it.

Essential 2

Pick your hosting. Pick a host that has Cpanel with Fantastico. Even if you don't know what "Fantastico" means right now, that's fine. There are several good hosting companies out there but my number 1 recommendation is HostGator. They have superior customer service and up time and they are reasonably priced.

Essential 3

It's time to point your name servers. You're going to put point them from your registrar, to your hosting company.

When you set up your hosting account, you probably (I hope!) got a welcome email that had your name servers in it. Like NS1.HostGator.com, and NS2.HostGator.com. It'll be in that format, but it won't be those exact words, but it'll look like that. All you have to do is go back to your domain registrar and when you get into your domain account, you'll find (it varies from host registrar to registrar, but they're all basically the same) the place where you can change your nameservers. It's probably going to be a clickable link called "name servers." Do not choose:

  • Forward

  • Redirect

Do not do either of those things because we're pointing this domain name to your hosting account. So all you have to do is click on "name servers," and say "custom name servers." Replace their name servers with the name servers that you got from your hosting account. Make sure you spell the correctly because if you make a typographical error, your name servers will never come over to your hosting account. They'll be out there internet limbo somewhere, and you won't be able to find them unless you go back to your registrar account. So, it's picky and it's a couple of steps, but it's not really hard, hard to do.

Essential 4

Now that we've pointed our name servers, we're going to set up the domain on your hosting account. Pointing is not enough; you have to actually set up your domain on your hosting account. So, with HostGator, you choose an add-on account. For example with ThirdSphere you chose "park a domain." So, hosts are different. If you don't know how to set up your account, send them a support ticket. Many of them have pretty good help sections. This is one of the most difficult things that you're going to do, so just ask your host.

I'm singling out GoDaddy because so many, many people host with them and they have really become a really good hosting company. With GoDaddy, the best way to set up your domain is with a separate economy hosting account. Each domain that you have should have it's own economy Linux hosting account.

  • They're very inexpensive.

  • They keep things nice and separate.

  • You don't have to worry about trying to map a domain here, or map a domain there.

It's just really easy to set up these separate accounts on GoDaddy. So, that's what I suggest with them.

Essential 5

Now you're going to install WordPress. With Fantastico, it's almost a one-click install - you click on WordPress and answer their questions and the auto install takes over. It's really not that difficult - with these instructions you can really do it.

Essential Things to Ponder While Designing Your Blog Template

By Biswajeet Shroff

A new blog always displays a default theme that is usually made available by the blogging service provider. As your blog grows in stature and popularity over a period of time, a default theme may not usher your blog in a proper direction. There is also the case of lost identity as that specific theme or template has already been put into use by countless bloggers. A more user friendly and search engine friendly blog theme is the need of the hour. The rest of the article will guide you through some of the essential elements that you must ponder while designing your new blog template or theme.

The first thing you can do is to enhance the visual appeal of the theme. In order to make your task easier, blog software or blogging service providers offer the thumbnail views of wide array of blog themes. You can choose one that best represents your blog ideas and posts by going through their visual appearance gradually. Do not limit your attention to visual cues only. There are so many other aspects of blog design.

Secondly, your blog template must have the able support of an adequate and efficient navigation system so that your esteemed visitors will have fewer problems in accessing your various posts and other blog details. This is one aspect which has been persistently overlooked by many blog sites till now and results in their quick demise. Do not confuse your readers regarding where to go once they land on your blog page.

The third important thing is to create an 'archive' section where your old posts are stored and organized according to their publishing month. Many blog systems provide you this option by default. Even if you don't have an archive section, you can find a perfect substitution in the form of 'categories' and 'tags' for your blog posts.

Moving on, a 'search box' must be present at the top or side of each blog page so that visitors can look for their desired posts quickly without browsing through each and every page. However, a problem lies with the search option as searching for blog posts can consume your server resources. If you've plenty of visitors, it may exceed the maximum resource limit specified by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) hastily. Still, you must make space for a search box on your blog for the larger interest of your readers.

The home page of your blog contains the summary of various posts. If a user finds the summary intriguing, he or she then clicks on the 'permalink' to read the full post. Most seasoned web surfers are aware of the permalink option. But, the same thing can't be said about new or average users. For their convenience, you can place a 'read more' link colored in blue and underlined below the summary.

Last, but not the least, your blog side panel must be compatible with the rest of the blog theme in terms of color scheme. It is the center of all activities as it boasts precious information such as post titles, links to recent posts and links to the archives and tag clouds. Make this section fully transparent and understandable for the benefit of visitors.
