Affiliate Marketing - Making Use of Blogs to Market Your Business

By Vanessa A. Doctor

Affiliate marketing is the latest boom in online business. Coming up with a website to sell products and services of existing companies is a great way to earn a sizable income or profit on the Web. But sticking to your own site alone to market your business does not necessarily lead to a productive online venture; in fact, you need to look for other means to help market your money-making enterprise -- and this is where blogging comes in.

What Are Blogs?

Blogs, or Web logs, is one of the online services an entrepreneur can use to market their affiliate marketing business on the Internet. Millions of online individuals today have set up their own blog sites -- either for personal or business use. They use it to share ideas, personal experiences, or even tips and tricks in random topics.

Due to the popularity of blogs, an affiliate marketer can tap to millions of potential clients and customers by putting up their own blog sites to market their products and services, as well as directly interacting with their visitors that will help improve their chances of landing a sale.

Advantage Of Using Blogs For Affiliate Marketing

Using blogs to market your online business has its advantages -- and here are some of them.

1. Zero Cost

Blog sites are free! That's right; you can easily set one up in a hurry without needing to pay for its services. This is a cheaper alternative to purchasing another domain to help market your venture or to pay for additional pages to be added to your main website.

2. No Need For Web Programming

Affiliate marketers need not waste their time with HTML programming or hard coding just to create a site. Blogs are created with just a few clicks to disable and enable features, as well as the existence of text boxes to populate the content with meaningful posts. All you need to do is to click the right button to publish all of it online. Very easy!

3. Interact With Your Visitors

One advantage of using blogs for your affiliate marketing business is the direct interaction with your potential customers and visitors. Keep in mind that individuals who read your posts can give comments -- either good or bad; you can reply to these comments to further improve your relationship with them or give a professional reply to a negative post that is advantageous for your online reputation.

Successful Blogging - 3 Types of Blogging Optimization

By Robert Deveau

How can I make a blog and have it be read and be financially successful, is a question that I hear all the time. I have come up with three things to consider to make your blog the best that it can be. Make your blog both personally satisfying and financially successful.

Reader optimization: There is another expression that you need to be aware of, that is the word "Stickiness". Stickiness is what makes a visitor want to come back to you. The best way to achieve that is to make sure that your blog does not look like everyone else's. Unfortunately, working with Blogger will not be enough in this area, you will require a wordpress blog. Wordpress will require just a little extra bit of know how but will be well worth it in the long run.

Search engine optimization: Without visitors, you are completely out of business. Most of the search engines have many criteria for how sites are ranked but only a couple that really matter. The first one is your keywords. Another word that you need to know is "long-tail keywords". In other words, if you go to Google and type in the word "Cruise" you will get millions of results. However, if you type in the words "what to expect on a cruise" in quotation marks, you get fewer than 2000 results. That is the keyword that you want to target.

Financial Optimization: Otherwise known as monetization. There are two ways to monetize your blog that most people use. One is pay-per-click ads. No don't worry, you will not be paying for the clicks, you will be paid for the clicks. The other is affiliate products. An affiliate product is simply where you put someone else's product on your site and you are paid a percentage for every sale that goes through your site.

Increasing Traffic to Your Blog

By Robert Bassett

Blogging - Use Your Blog to Market Yourself Online

How to increase traffic to your blog? Word of mouth is one of the most important things to consider. Do your part by making sure your friends and associates are viewing it and that they are telling their friends to view it. It sounds simple but a personal testimony about something is always better than impersonal advertisements. Here are some very important points to consider....

1. To start a blog, this is a good site- www.blogger.com or use Facebook or Myspace. There are other sites that you can search for starting a blog, but this is a good start.

2. That being said don't overlook an opportunity to promote your blog. Mention your blog on everything you send out to someone and put a link address on what you send so they can access it easily. Email regular mail etc. mention your web blog.

3. There are plenty of sites on the web that will help drive traffic to your site, some are free. Check with others online who have used those sites to make sure they actually work.

4. If you were really serious about promoting your blog you could pay a web marketing company to promote it for you or for consulting on how to do it yourself but that is expensive and is really more for those who have an online business.

5. Also if you haven't already done so submit your site to the major search engines.

There are in fact two main kinds of blogs being used to drive massive traffic in the direction of various websites. The first is the sort of blog that is closely related to the subject of the site it links to. The other type of blog will tend to have a popular topic with little or no relation to the website topic. Here the idea is to attract huge volumes of traffic and then direct as much of it as possible to the website using attractive and catchy headlines on links situated at the blog.

Both types of blogs work pretty well and what's more, there is nothing to stop an online marketer from using both types of blogs at the same time to win and direct even heavier traffic in the direction of their website. The fact that blogs are easy to maintain makes it simpler for virtually any small business to have several blogs successfully running alongside their main website.

All you have to do with blogs covering unrelated topics to the site you want to direct traffic to, is to be careful to ensure that it atracts the kind of people who qualify as prospects for your site. For instance, it will not help if your main site focuses on a product for women and yet your popular blog attracts mostly men and very few ladies. This is niche marketing.

Blog Keywords - How to Find and Use Keywords in Blog Posts

By Melanie Dejonge

Almost everyone I know has a blog, even if it's only blog posts that they make on their Myspace page. A lot of people have something to say, and they find putting their thoughts down on virtual paper via a blog to be a great way to do it. And it is. First of all, there's an electronic record of your thoughts that you can look back on in the future, and, even more appealing in many circumstances, blogs are made in such a way that other people can easily find the material you've written.

On MySpace or other Social Network and Social Blogging platforms, that can be as simple as putting a status update or a bulletin out to your friends and letting them know you've put up a new blog post.

If you want to take your blogging to the next level, however, you will want to go beyond having a blog that your friends and family read, and write posts that are geared to get your content into the search engines.

This is where many people lose the thread. They aren't clear about how to do this.

It's actually fairly simple.

The first part consists of finding the right phrase, or "keyword," to write about. There are many ways to go about this, but here is what I think is the simplest and most effective. First, think of a broad idea you want to write about. If you keep a fitness blog, maybe that broad idea is "eating healthy." Next, plug that idea into a keyword research tool. There are thousands of these, of both the free and paid variety, all across the web. My favorite free tool is the good old Google AdWords external keyword tool. I figure, if I'm trying to rank in Google, why not get my information directly from them?

After the keyword tool processes your query, you will have a list of more specific phrases, as well as the search volume for those phrases. You will look for phrases that get medium to heavy searches and research those further.

The next step involves Google itself. When you see a phrase you're interested in, type it into Google inside quotation marks. This will tell you the amount of pages already in the search engines which have those exact words in that exact order. Those pages are your real competition.

When you have located a phrase that has medium to heavy search traffic and medium to low competition, you are ready to write your blog post!

When you write your post, make sure you use the phrase in the title of the post, and make sure your permalink structure is set up so that the link to the post includes the title. Use the phrase in the first sentence of your post, and the last. Try to use it once or twice in the main content of the article, as well, but don't push it if it's not natural. You don't want your writing to sound stilted.

Of course, this is a very simplified and basic tutorial in keywords research. For more in-depth information on professional blogging, check out http://MelaniedeJonge.com

Will Your Blog Fail?

By Marian Krajcovic

There are good reasons to start a blog. You can be seen as an expert in your niche, you can let people know what's going on in your business, you can sell affiliate products with product reviews, and you can make money with your own products or with AdSense ads. But before you go ahead and start a blog, think first about why some blogs fail. If you keep these failings in mind before you begin, you can do what you need to do to make sure you don't fall into the same traps.

If you are already an expert in your field, that's great. If you're not, then it's going to be a lot harder to compete in a niche that is already dominated by experts. You'll have to work at building your credibility first before you can compete with the big boys.

But having said that, you can narrow your niche and specialize in your unique offerings. Just don't make the niche too narrow that you run out of stuff to blog about. Also, make sure there are people interested in your chosen niche topic. You need an audience of a lot more than one.

Another issue that can lead to failing is when people decide to have lots of blogs. That's not a problem by itself and can indeed make you good money, but you need to get one blog up and running smoothly and earning an income before you put the next one up. You need to develop a successful plan with the first blog so you can implement that plan with your next blogs.

I see some blogs failing because the owners are just in it for the money. You can tell they have no interest in the blog subject, they use PLR without bothering to rewrite it, and the blog is covered from head to toe with ads. Don't waste your time if you're not committed.

When you have a blog, you need to brand yourself - both with your logo and what your blog is about. What is your blog about exactly? If a new reader can't figure that out, they probably won't stick around. Stay within your blog subject and dive in deep. Readers interested in the subject will come back again and again.

Some blogs could have made it if their owners had just taken some time to analyze what was working and what wasn't. If you spend any time on successful blogs, you will see that they are constantly evolving. Staying stagnant = failure.

To be successful with your blog you need to market it to the right audience. Pick the right keywords when you do PPC and advertise on websites in the same or complimentary niches. Find a forum in your niche and become a contributor with quality posts.

Lastly, don't expect to get rich over night from your blog. It takes time to build up an audience that trusts what you have to say. Keep at it and consider the reasons why blogs fail. Successful blogging can be yours.

Tips For Writing a Popular Post

By Marian Krajcovic

In the beginning, when you first start blogging, you feel like you're blogging to yourself. You even get your mom and brother to leave comments so it looks like you have people reading your blog. Eventually, you start getting real feedback, but it's sporadic and lukewarm at best. You dream of writing a popular post that will not only make you feel good, but will get you a boat load of traffic - eyeballs looking at your blog and seeing what you're selling.

Creating a popular post for your blog is like showing up at a potluck with the best tasting dish around. Everyone loves your casserole, it's better than everyone else's casserole, people ask you for the recipe, you're seen as a successful cook, and they all want to invite you to their own potlucks. Word of your success travels and opportunities open up before you in ways you never dreamed of.

That's what a popular post can do. People will bookmark your site because of the wow factor of the post, many will comment on your blog, others will blog about it, quite a few will Digg it, you'll see a flood of unique traffic, your RSS subscribes and opt-ins will soar, and the monetizing strategies you have in place will start doing their thing.

So here's what you do:

Write a catchy, witty, attention-grabbing headline. If your title doesn't get their attention, they won't read your post. It's as straightforward as that.

Have a great first paragraph. This is make it or break it for most readers. If it's full of fluff, they're not going to want to read the rest of your piece. This is where you tell them what you're going to tell them and why they need to hear it (what's in it for them.)

You are probably not going to write all of your posts to be popular posts, but when you are aiming to write a grand piece, take your time writing it. Don't rush. Think about it, write it, put it aside, come back and polish it till it shines. Keep your eye out for grammar and spelling errors.

The posts that become popular are the ones that give people what they really, really want to know. So help people, no major strings attached. Give them hot new info, not rehashed ho-hum they can find easily and everywhere. Give them more than they are expecting. Don't be afraid to add some of your own personality or use a personal example when illustrating a point. Also, while you're being so helpful, offer other resources and links in your post.

Linking to other info in your post also has the added benefit of the sites you linked to returning the favor. They could give their blog readers or list subscribers a heads up about your article or even permanently link to it in their sidebar.

Keep your formatting pleasing to the eye. Have a picture, use bullets or numbers, bold subheadings, and break up your paragraphs into smaller chunks.

If you want your readers to rate your post or Digg it - ask them to. If you had them at "hello", then they'll be happy to comply with your request.

There's certainly no guarantee your post will become popular, but in order to stand a chance you should take a little extra time and thought and write it like a post you would really want to read.

Does Trying to Make Money With a Microblog Mean That You Automatically Lose Your Independence?

By John Parks

Most people who start microblogs do so because they're just interested in talking about something. Whether it's their daily life, the goings-on of their town and surroundings, or their favorite hobby, microblogging is becoming the most popular way for people to get specific on the internet.

The thing is, though, microblogging takes time, and unless you're using a free host, it costs money too. Bandwidth continues to get cheaper every year, but with the advent of online videos, flash games, and other high-bandwidth objects cut into this. Additionally, all of the effort involved in microblogging makes it feel like a job, so why shouldn't you earn more than just praise and attention? You deserve a little money, right?

The thing is, when you decide that you want to make money with your microblog, you threaten to lose your independence. You will first have to make space for ads, which detracts from your own subject matter. Additionally, many advertising services do not inform you as to what ads will be shown on your website beforehand, meaning that the ads may be inappropriate for your demographic or content. After all, if you're microblogging about a local sports team, you're not going to win a lot of points with your visitors if an ad promoting the rival team is at the top of your blog! Also, many ads are just downright distracting, and are seen as a "cop out" by visitors. This is especially true if you've been getting by without ads for quite some time.

There are several ways to deal with this. One is to simply refuse to accept ads, and fiercely defend your independence even though it will cost you money. It's not an easy option, but if you've already got a good paying job and your bandwidth costs aren't too high, it may be the best one. A second is to offer premium services to those who are willing to pay more. Premium services (such as special articles or other content) are a great way to bring in money without giving in to "the man," and are much more effective than begging for donations. A third way is to offer ads, but to check them out first. There are many advertising networks out there now which offer very carefully tailored ads which will mirror or at least try to go along with the content of the website, and even try to not get in the way of the actual content.

In any event, it's up to you to find what works best for you, and how much (if any) of your independence you're willing to give up in exchange for a little cash. It is your blog after all, and most bloggers find that they can get by with few ads or no ads, especially if they are microblogging and thus have an inherently small audience. After all, one of the advantages of microblogging is that your small audience gives you the freedom to work with them and give them the information they require in order to make smart decisions, or just be entertained. Why compromise that by jamming in ads?

Internet Marketing and Bloggers

By Gunawan Harinanto

There are a lot of users out there today that surf the internet to voice their opinion. This is called Blogging. The term BLOG came out of the original term weblog. It was later shortened in a play on words by Peter Melholz when he stated "We Blog" in a phrase. So what is blog and how do can you turn this to your creative and monetary advantage? A blog site is a forum where people go to voice their opinion, post photos and videos, and even let their creative juices flow.

There are over 61 million results when you type in the word Blog...What does that say to the new website business owner? The obvious thing it says is everyone has an opinion and they are more prone to share on the web then in person. A more important view to take is there are 61 million possible clients to purchase your product and share your website. Word of mouth is now and always has been a great way to advertise.

The bad part about blogging is the fact that it allows individual opinions to be posted live and in color for the entire internet community to view. So you want to try to follow the old adage about pleasing the world. Remember you can't please everyone so don't try. Try to view it as individual critiques. If most of the critiques are in favor of what you have to offer keep going in the direction your in. If the bloggs are critical about certain points, use this to tweak your website or product.

So how do you start a blog? There are a lot of sights out there dedicated to creating blogs. Google has a three step process to creating a blog. First you create an account then you name your blog and finally you choose a template. It is really as easy as one, two, three. If you are a program savvy individual you can also create your own templates. You can incorporate them into links and have various conversations occurring at the same time.. Think of this as an interactive guest book that will allow contacts to be made.

You can make blogging work for you by creating a forum people want to be a part of. Take a hobby and turn it into a forum for people to visit, for example scrap booking or writing. Both of these could be set up as a place to let the creative juices flow. Then you provide different services on the site and charge a fee. The fee should depend on the services. Marketing psychology tells you to make sure you do not make the number end in zero. For example if you think your service is worth $13.00 you should charge $12.95. The public subconsciously looks at this and thinks they are saving money.

Remember to plan the blog just like you would any other website. Make sure the KEYWORDS and TITLE work together with your search engine and that the site be fresh, creative and easy to maneuver. Blogging can be a fun and enterprising way to connect with the world.

By Fabian Tan

Blogging is one of the most popular new forms of social networking and online interaction. Did you know that not only are blogs fun and entertaining, but you can actually make money from your blog?

Making Money with AdSense

There's no doubt that Google is an innovator in many areas of the Internet. Another jewel in their crown is their AdSense program. This program allows regular web site owners to make money by including relevant links and graphic advertisements on their blog. When a blog visitor clicks one of these links the Blogger receives a small amount of money.

Paid Blogging Services

Blogging Networks are springing up everywhere and several of the more reputable networks pay Bloggers for writing on topics they are passionate about. Most of these services do not pay a large amount of money at the beginning but some offer revenue sharing which can increase your monthly income tremendously should your blog become popular. A new Blogger might expect to make anywhere from 50¢ to $1.00 per post to a new blog.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing involves finding and signing up for programs that will allow you to market existing products and services for pay on a commission basis. If you are not experienced in working on the Internet with a focus on marketing this is probably not the quickest way to make money from your blog.

Whether you choose AdSense, Paid Blogging Services or Affiliate Marketing it is possible to make money from your blog in 30 days but you cannot expect it to happen without plenty of time and effort on your part.

How to Write a Killer Blog?

By Dave H Clark

A blog presents comments or news on any specific topic like food, clothes or politics; in other words on almost anything. Writing a killer blog is a not an easy task but not impossible at the same time. There are certain things that you need to keep in mind while writing a killer blog.

Steps to write a killer blog

Here are seven important steps that may help you in writing a killer blog. Follow these steps one by one.

1. Choose a defining title tag

The very first step is to choose a defining title tag. It should include keywords related to your blog like if your blog is about foodstuff; make sure that the word food is in your title tag.

2. Focus on your headlines

The second important step is to focus on your headlines. For this you must give vibrant, smart headlines full of significant keywords. If your headline is not good, no one will bother to read the content even if it is good.

3. Add media effects

You should add some more media effects like pod casting, video blogging, photography and so on. If you want to make it more appealing, just add photos, sounds and even videos to your blog.

4. Posts should be precise

Make sure that the post you write is precise and clear-cut. You should post frequently.

5. Get your own niche

Next step is to look for a niche. It is better to focus on one. You will find a number of blogs available these days. Make it different from others. Hence it is better if you have your own style and establish an identified place for yourself.

6. Add a free link

You need to make set-up with other bloggers and influencers and then link out to all your friends and enemies in a similar way. If you want to become an authority, remember that you will have to network and learn from other people. You can get authority and credibility if you also give credit when it is payable.

7. Add your own viewpoint

You should always try to develop your own style and personality online. Cover the stories by adding up your own perspective in it. You should not be scared to be controversial or just agree or disagree.

After adding your perspective you need to make your blog optimized for various search engines by tagging your posts. It is very essential to admit your mistakes and then make required improvement in it. You can also allow comments on your blog. People leaving comments should feel safe in your blog.

Lastly before finalizing the blog you must see that it is well written. Read thoroughly and also check your facts, spellings, sentence structure etc. This is important to do because once you post your blog, it is displayed globally via internet.

Writing a killer blog is all about adopting a particular style and go for the topic/subject vastly prevalent. You can go for something very usual but it is on you how you are going to make it different from others.

Blog and Make Money - 3 Secrets You Must Know

By Angela Booth

Want to make money via your blog? You can, once you know three secrets to success. Let's look at them in this article.

1. Focus and Keywords: Build Traffic Fast

Stop! Before you create your blog, do some planning. It's very easy to create a blog -- too easy. If you jump right in and create a blog before you have a clear direction, you're setting yourself up for failure.

So, firstly, in one sentence, describe who your blog is for.

Bad: "My blog is for readers who want to be entertained."

Good: "My blog is for hobbyist digital photography enthusiasts, who are newcomers to digital photography, and who want reviews of the latest cameras and equipment, plus how-to information."

When you write a good description, you're using keywords which your readers will use when they find your blog. Just in the description, you have keywords which include: digital photography, reviews, cameras, equipment and how-to.

This means that you have a wonderful foundation for your blog. Your readers will easily find you via your keywords, and your traffic will build fast.

2. Market Your Blog: Get Traffic and Income

The next secret is: market your blog for more traffic and the start of a great income.

It's true that if you're very keen and very focused on building a great blog, that your primary marketing tool is the blog itself. I've created blogs for which I've done zero marketing, because I have too many other blogs. As I added content to the blogs I didn't market, their traffic grew organically, simply because of the RSS feeds, and the content added daily.

However, relying on organic traffic is a slow way to build traffic. If you want traffic and income fast, you'll need to do some marketing. You can do this in many ways, depending on how much money you want to spend on your blog -- you can advertise both online and offline.

3. Your Blog is a Snowball: Watch It Grow

Here's the final secret: your blog will grow, as you keep adding content, and as you market your blog. Accept the fact that your blog will take time to hit the heights. Be patient.

I've watched some blogging newbies destroy blogs with fantastic potential. They blog along for months, then suddenly there's a post which says: "I'm selling the blog because I no longer have time..." or "This is my final post..."

These newbies were weeks away from a blog which was a gold mine -- and they quit. Go figure. Please be patient.

You can make great money from any blog -- these three secrets will help.

Find a Blog Niche and Make All the Money

By Ace Smith

Before thinking of how much money to earn, always keep in mind that every site has a niche. An online entrepreneur must remember that everyone has a place in the internet. But it is essential to discover how to make that space remarkable and profitable as well.

Making money out of nothing at all

That is true. One can make money even without a defined niche. A bloggers usual dilemma is how to write articles at random and still earn a good amount of money. One can get over this dilemma by just believing that every site has a niche. Be it a personal blog or an educational site, there is a specific audience in the worldwide web reading and identifying with one or a few of your interests.

It is another question how one can make money out of a site with a general niche. Some important factors must be considered when earning money becomes a goal besides writing.

Traffic plus loyalty equals money

One glaring advantage of a personal blog that contains a wide variety of topics is its general marketability. In online business, traffic is of the essence. More traffic means more money. In a personal blog, there is a bigger possibility to create more traffic because of the different topics and issues you post on your site.

Audience loyalty is as essential as traffic for a website to earn money. Having a regular set of online visitors and users will ensure not only the success of your current site but other projects in the future where specific niche products, articles or services are necessary.

Keys to connect with a niche market

Although niche selection is not the sole factor to ascertain how much money a website can earn, its usefulness in marketing is unquestionable. If you want to be a successful online entrepreneur, remember these keywords - change, focus and connect.

The easiest way to find a position within a niche is to have effective taglines and title tags for your homepage. Examine the current title and taglines of your homepage and if necessary change them with your target readers' interests in mind.

Narrow your website's focus. This way, your visitors will find it easy to access the information on your site. Run through your site carefully and do away with all the unnecessary pages. Create new and well-focused categories based on the niche topic you have chosen.

Lastly, connect with your niche online communities. This will ensure your place in the internet and allow you to attract new targeted audience.
