Keyword Research - How to Find the Best Keywords For Your Blog

By Lisa Stoops

As you may know, keyword research is the foundation to online success. Do you want to know how to find the best keywords for your blog? Well then, keep reading.

What I'm about to share with you should be done before you set up your blog. But, if you already have set up your blog, that is okay. Just take the long-tail keywords you find and use them as blog posts (with the keywords in the blog post title).

Here is how to find the best keywords for your blog:

Step 1: Finding Monthly Keyword Searches

The first thing to do is to determine the topic of your blog. I'm assuming that you have already your topic. Now the next step is to enter the main keyword into a search tool like Google Keyword Tool.

Typically, this keyword is one word like golf, baby, or toy. These keywords by themselves are far too competitive to be able to rank well in the search engines so we are going to use the search tool to find a keyword phrase that has less competition. Identify the keywords that have two or more words together. These are called keyword phrases. Note the ones that have the highest amount of searches per month. Stay away from keywords less than 1500-2000 a month. You will build your blog around this keyword phrase. But first, we have to check the competition.

Step 2: Finding Keyword Competition

Now, take those phrases and run a search on them in Google with quotes around the phrase to find out how many competing pages there are. If the amount is less than 200K, you have a good keyword phrase. Do this until you find a good main keyword phrase.

Step 3: Gathering Long Tail Keywords

Okay, so now you have a main keyword phrase. During your search, you probably came across many similar phrases. You can take all of the related keywords and use them as blog posts. In order to have a good chance of ranking well in the search engines, you may want to use the allintitle check in Google. Just enter allintitle: your keyword phrase to find out how many people have optimized their titles with that keyword phrase. Anything under 10,000 is good.

To find even more long tail keywords you can do a search on your main keyword phrase and enter the URL of the first listing into the Google Keyword Tool.

By the time you are done with this process, you will have the best keywords for your blog. And before you know it; your blog will be ranking high in the search engines.

Blogs - Should You Have One? Where Do You Start?

By Jane Robinson

Why start blogging? Consider your own reasons for thinking of starting a blog. There are different reasons why someone may start a blog. These can be as diverse as trying to make money, giving useful information to those with the same interests, publicizing a cause or a new idea or simply to stay in touch with family and friends.

Although all of these reasons may be quite different, all would be bloggers should spend some time learning about blogging before starting out. This will help to ensure that the blogger avoids mistakes which might not assist their blogging experience and help them achieve the sort of blog they intended.

So start by studying successful blogs. You can learn a great deal just by looking at those blogs that are successful, not necessarily in your own field of interest. Start by looking at what drew your attention, was it the writing style, the layout, the design, colours? If you think about what you found pleasing about a particular blog, its possible that others will find the same things interesting and that is why they visit. There is no point in reinventing the wheel; try and model your own blog along similar lines, taking the best of those blogs and using them in your own.

Start some simple research on the Internet. You will find articles related to blogging, starting and maintaining a blog, getting traffic, keeping visitors interested, and developing the blog as you go along for example.

Check your sources if you can. There is a lot of misinformation on the Internet. It isn't always easy to check but you should try and cross refer the tips you get from an article to other source. Always try and check the source if you can or at least see if you can corroborate a "tip" somewhere else.Try and ensure as much as you can that the sources are reliable.

As you start investigating blogging and doing your research, keep in mind that it is important to promote your blog, unless it is purely a family and friends blog. If you wish to use your blog to make money or publicize a cause or whatever purpose you wish to use it, you need to think about how to attract traffic. This is the lifeblood of blogs and is extremely important in your potential success.

How did you find the blogs you read often? Think about how you found them and its likely that other people found them in the same or a similar way. What did you type in when you first starting searching, what "keywords" did you use? Did you find a forum that pointed you to a blog, did you discover it via a social networking site like Facebook, or Twitter? Whatever routes you found to a particular blog should be put in place so others can find yours through a similar process.

4 Ways to Explode Your Blog Traffic For Free

By Daniel Waser

It pays to be a blogger these days. There is an endless list of bloggers, who have successfully created a huge income from their blogging work, raking in thousands of dollars every month by working from home.

There is one left for all of your great strategies to work - the 'big T'. You may wonder what could be the big T? well it's Traffic!

Every blog needs traffic in order to survive, that much we already know. But in this article, we're going to look at 4 of the most effective ways to set up windfalls of consistent traffic through one of the best publishing platforms online - blogs.

1. RSS Feeds

Most blogging software such as Wordpress come with a built in RSS feed, which is the equivalent to having a newsletter subscription service, but of course is 100% free and requires no details to be passed over from the subscriber. Most people just let their RSS feed sit there on their new blogs but what you must do is submit your RSS feed URL to as many RSS directories as possible. Therefore, when you post new content on your blog, this is syndicated to your RSS feed and the directories display your most recent posts. This is one of the easiest ways to get immediate exposure every time you post content.

2. Blog commenting

If you're looking for targeted traffic and some solid one way backlinks to boost your search engine listings, then try commenting on other people's blogs leaving a link back to your website. Providing you post relevant and useful content/comments on other people's blogs, the blog owner will "approve" your comments and you link will then become live. This can bring direct traffic and of course help with your rankings in the search engines.

3. Guest Bloggers

There are many advantages to having guest bloggers post their content on your site. Apart from the credibility of your blog going way up (depending on who the guest actually is), you are forming a mini joint venture where the guest is likely to tell his/her own audience about the material on your site, plus you may be able to work out a deal where you can return the favor and get access to their blog audience by appearing as a guest writer on their blog.

4. Trackback links

A trackback is when one blog communicates with another to inform the bloggers that their material has been referenced on someone else's post. So if you were to write a really good post, I could write about your post and create a trackback on your blog that tells the readers I've been talking about you and your post. Not only can this bring direct traffic, but also provides another backlink to your blog which is great for a little SEO boost. When would this be most effective? Probably when I have a contrasting opinion to your original post or if I have something helpful (or controversial) to add to the original post.

These are just 4 of many ways to explode your blog traffic, but we're not done yet. It's possible to reach dizzy levels of traffic for your new blog right from day one when you have an arsenal of blogger's traffic tactics at your disposal.

Blogging to Build Your Business - Why it is So Important to Own Your Blog by Using a Hosted Service

By Connie Ragen Green

Are you already blogging or getting ready to start a blog? You may be interested in knowing that all blogging platforms are not created equal. If you intend to build an online business that will represent you well on the internet, here are some things that you will need to keep in mind.

The first thing is that a free blog will not serve you well in the long run. If you start a blog with a free service you do not own it. If you are just writing a personal diary or family blog, it may not make as much difference to you. If you are running an online business, it means everything. A free service may remove your blog at any time if they do not like what you are doing. You do not want to take the chance of working hard for months or years, only to have it all disappear with no recourse available.

This means that you do not want to use blogger, also known as blogspot, or the free version of WordPress. These blogs are considered to be throw away sites, and you do not want to spend time on something that can be deleted by someone else.

When are ready to get serious about blogging, go to Typepad or to hosted WordPress. I often recommend Typepad for people who are just getting started online because it is very simple to set up and get going. All you need to do to get started is to purchase a domain name and sign up with Typepad. The small monthly fee you pay is your hosting fee. Typepad also has very good customer service and an online knowledge base to answer all of your questions.

Hosted WordPress also requires you to purchase a domain name for your blog. Then you will need to get an account to host your site. I recommend a hosting service with c-panel hosting, so that you will be able to take full advantage of everything the internet has to offer. There are too many details to go into here, but believe me when I say that c-panel hosting is the way to go.

Then you will need to choose a theme for your WordPress blog. There are thousands of free themes available, as well as many that you can purchase. You can search for these online very easily. I prefer a theme that is two columns, with my sidebar on the right, and also one that is widget ready. This means that you can easily add the plug-ins that WordPress is known for, like the ones for video, search engine optimization, and audio capability.

No matter if you decide to go with a hosted WordPress blog, or the simplicity of a Typepad blog, either way you will own your blog and be able to create a site that will enable you to build your online business.

And now I invite you to join me in a blogging forum that taught me everything I know on this topic by visiting http://www.BlogMentorForum.com to get started right away. This forum will get your business blog off to a professional start and help you to to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs from around the world.

By Bradley Selchow

Is the Blogging to the Bank 3.0 system a scam? This method of posting content on the web has been used for a long time, and almost every internet user should know about blogs now. However, many people have no idea how profitable blogging can be. The truth is that I am making a nice income from creating blogs today, and there are thousands of other bloggers who are making a full time income from it.

1. Does The Blogging To The Bank 3.0 System Really Work?

Before this updated 3.0 version, there were 2 previous versions of Blogging to the Bank that I had used too. However, due to the way the internet and search engines have changed, some of the strategies are not as effective today as they were before as. The BTTB 3 system now covers much more information about free search engine domination and the techniques that can be used to get the best spots in search engines in the shortest period of time.

2. What Can You Learn Inside Blogging to the Bank 3.0?

The author has created the Blogging to the Bank 3.0 system in a step by step manner. This system takes you through the entire process of finding profitable markets and products to make money, how to find the right keywords to promote them and the fastest way to setup blogs to make money.

3. Who Created the Blogging to the Bank 3.0 System?

He is Rob Benwell, the creator of the first BTTB system back in 2006. It was after reading through his experiences that I got inspired and started making real money on the internet using blogging. However, the techniques described in the older versions will definitely not work very well today because of many changes in the blogging world.
