Top SEO Benefits of Blogging

By Mike Tazner

Having a blog is a must if you want to reap the full benefits of search engine optimization. Blogs are content-rich and usually focused on one specific them, which makes them easier for the search engine spiders to find. Here are some of the top SEO benefits of blogging for your business.

Linking Benefits

If you blog about a popular topic or give credit to another blogger in one of your posts, you're likely to get some quality one-way links from other blogs to yours. These links help new readers (and the search engine spiders) find your blog. Internal linking is also common with blogs. Blog owners can link to previous posts, which creates a positive search engine effect and also gives new readers the ability to catch up on old posts.

Updated Content

Many Web sites fail to benefit from SEO because their owners don't update content as frequently as they should. The search engines, along with readers, place a high level of importance on how often new content is added to a site. Because most people post on blogs at least once or twice a week, readers have something to look forward to and the search engine spiders have new content to crawl on a more frequent basis.

Community Interaction

Blogging is a great way to create a community of readers who interact with you and each other through the use of comments. By creating an active community, you are opening up more opportunities for links and positive publicity, which can improve your search engine rankings as well as your business reputation and thus maximizing your online strategy.

If you don't have a blog for your business, you need to get one up and running so you can take advantage of all the benefits blogging has to offer.

A Medical Blog As a Resource

By Ronny Abraham

What is a medical blog?

A medical blog is a web log that discusses various medical topics and provides great resources for all physicians.

What should a medical blog consist of?

-discussions of various medical topics

-a forum for all physicians at any stage of training to contribute or ask questions

-help pre-med students decide if medicine is right for them

-choosing the right medical school and getting into it

-resources that help students cope with medical school

-help medical students choose the right residency

-education to help residents cope with the tough residency years

-planning for the job after residency and the skills needed

As I went on my long journey to become a physician, I did not feel that I had the proper guidance. It seemed every time I needed an answer, I had to search deep and wide to find it. Not many were honest about their experiences in medical school, residency, and as an attending. There was so much uncertainty. What do I study? How long should I study? What books are the best? How do you balance medicine and life? These and a ton of other questions were always on my mind. I had to actively go and seek out the answers and a lot of times there was no direction, no clear answer. That's why I wish I had a medical blog that guided me through my medical education. I feel that everyone that goes through medicine needs some direction. A medical blog is a great solution to this problem.

Hope you all the best!

Increase Blog Traffic in 3 Easy Steps

By Justin Wright

So you write a really great article and post it on your blog, only to find out that no one has read it! Does this sound like you?

This is why generating traffic is so important. Unfortunately, it is the hardest thing for any blogger or webmaster to do. Without traffic, your blog has no chance at surviving on the internet. It will get buried with all of the other blogs that get little to no traffic. This is why most bloggers give up within two months are starting.

So How Do You Increase Traffic?

Here are three tips that will easily help generate more traffic to your blog:

1. Comment On Other Blogs

This is by far the easiest but beneficial way to increase your traffic. By commenting on other blogs, you not only engage another blogger but also put a link out there for other people to find you. Usually, a blogger will visit each site that someone leaves when they comment as a way of saying thanks.

If you leave a really good comment (which I recommend), many readers of the blog will also follow your link to see who your are and what your blog is about. So remember, leave relative comments and never spam. Bloggers never like receiving comments that say "Hey nice blog."

2. Trade Links With Other Blogs

Another way to get more traffic is by generating backlinks. This will not only increase your direct traffic, but will also increase your traffic from search engines like Google. There are many ways to trade or generate backlinks and they are all effective in different ways.

To start out, I would encourage you to find other blogs related to yours as contact them about swapping links. This could be as simple as putting each other on your blogrolls and linking to one another. This is a great way to get relevant links to your blog.

3. Use The Power of Forums

Forums are one of the most beneficial things to spend your time doing. You will learn more about internet marketing and how to increase your search engine rankings.

If learning and getting tips wasn't enough, you can also place links in your signature. That way every time you make a post in a forum, you have a link at the bottom that points to your website. This can also help get readers to find your blog. Now that you have an idea on how to start boosting traffic, get to work!

3 Magic Words to Your Online Business Success - Blog, Blog and Blog

By Juhani Tontti

Here is a great example: Finland had community elections during last weekend, where different candidates used several combinations of mediums. However a man, who got the biggest number of votes, used only one medium, his blog. Obviously, the power came from the content, which differed greatly from the usual political jargon.

This is an evidence, that blogging has power, if it is used correctly. My example was from politics, but the same rule concerns every home business online. Their target audiences are also people, who have specific needs for their own online home business, which you can fulfill with your own personal style.

Blogging Is Personal.

When you write regularly to your online home business blog, you can tie your reader into your own thoughts and to serve him regularly. Blogging requires an honest attitude and though content, where you are not allowed to cheat people. Blogging about the marketing of online business opportunity must use your honest knowledge without selling anything but your ideas.

You Must Protect Your Ideas.

The marketing of online home business can follow several tactics and strategies, but a single marketer can follow only his own one. This means that before you can share your tactics, you must select those carefully and to run your own home business opportunities with them.

The blogger must both support his own ideas but at the same time to fight against those tactics, which he thinks are worthless. In this way, he will teach his readers, what is his marketing style. This will build his brand over time.

The Blog Must Become An Important Part Of The Network.

Bloggers form useful networks, where the information goes quickly. Naturally these networks are communities of the marketers, which appreciate each other. At the same time they fulfil each others expertise, because they are experts in their own niches only.

Think about the value of this kind of community. What a goldmine of online home business expertise. I argue that blog is the only medium with which you can publish your private thoughts both publicly but still inside a certain community.

Comments Create More Value.

Blog is a very interactive medium. The owner casts some topic and ideas about his online home business, but the readers can comment and add their own experiences, which ususally are very useful, real power tips.

This is the way to get the latest news from the market, which makes it possible to react quickly if needed. Sharing proven tips fine tunes the marketing of all members, which raises the value of your online home business blog.

If you concentrate on your blog, its content and look, it can become your only medium, which really can draw visitors and become an opinion leader in your niche. When blog is seen personal, it will raise your name into the lips of the marketers of online home business. Think about this!

Simple Steps to Set Up Feedburner

By Charles Chestnut

The FeedBurner Idea

The basic premise behind FeedBurner, for any reader who may not know, is rss or Really Simple Syndication. This allows bloggers to submit there feed to the network and in turn any readers who want to can simply subscribe and view a live text feed of the blog in any online reader. Each blog has its own feed URL which the posts are published on. Subscribers using FeedBurner, or other similar feed readers, then subscribe to the blog posts without having to visit the site every day. It is much easier for subscribers to read the site with a reader. Although it is much harder to monetize than a normal blog it helps to build readership and following thanks to its ease of use.

Some Simple Steps to Set Up FeedBurner

1. Head on over to FeedBurner.com and set up a free account for your blog.

2. Next, you will need to set up your blog feed. If you already know your blog feed than you can enter it in the field that is provided (you can't miss the field). If you don't know your feed it is generally something like yourblogtitle.com/feed. However, you can also just enter the URL for your blog and Feed Burner's automatic feed searcher should pick it up for you. Just follow the setup process through until the configuration page and be sure to click the Pro option because it is now free since Google has acquired it.

3. Now you need to put the code for your feed onto your site. This will allow people to subscribe to your blog. If you do not have any rss or feed buttons such as this one go to the publicize tab in the FeedBurner main page. Select the option to add chicklets and this will allow you to choose one that you like and give you the code for that chicklet. Then, either using a wordpress textbox widget or imbedding the code directly into your script place the widget on your site.

4. Technically you need to imbed the code for your feed into your widgets but a very simple way to do this is to download the wordpress plugin FeedSmith. This will do all the FeedBurner coding work for you. Simply download FeedSmith. Next, upload it to your plugins folder. Once it is uploaded you need to activate it and enter your feed URL, which if you remember you can find in your FeedBurner account homepage.
