How to Start a Blog Tour

If you're looking for a way to generate buzz about your product or service, blogs are an excellent media to target. Blog readers often feel a strong connection to the blog author - a recommendation of your business/product from a trusted source goes a long way. If your product/service is available online - what better way to drive traffic than a link to your website?

How to Start a Blog Tour

1. Set a length of time for your tour (6-weeks is a good time frame)

2. Create a space on your company blog or on your website to announce your 'tour dates'

3. Search for blogs that reach your target audience.

4. Write up a small note about your blog tour to send to the individual blog authors. Let them know you would be honored if they wrote about you or mentioned your company/product. In exchange, you will provide a link back to their blog on the 'space' you generated from step #2. Email your note with a copy of your company press release.

5. Create an incentive - offer an exclusive discount for the blog readers. You can also run a contest.

6. Write a press release announcing your blog tour to submit to traditional media. Many newspaper editors and journalists are bloggers themselves.

7. Be sure to thank all the bloggers that covered your company!
