34 Reasons Why Readers Unsubscribe From Your Blog

Do you sometimes wonder why people unsubscribe from your RSS feed? Well here are a bunch of reasons you may want to consider so that you don't lose your RSS feed readers from your blog.


  • Too many posts (this overwhelms a lot of readers)

  • Infrequent Posting (basically the blog is dead from lack of posting)

  • Partial Excerpts Feeds

  • Blog Changes Focus (too many different topics and not enough focus)

  • Too many posts that have been seen elsewhere

  • Uninteresting Content

  • Irrelevant Content

  • The Blogger's Ego - Too much self promotion

  • Low Quality Cotent

  • Too many posts that are too long (try to throw in some short posts once in awhile)

  • Negative blogging

  • Feed Errors

  • Offensive Content/Personal attacks/Discrimination

  • 'infomercials' (too much selling)

  • Blog Titles that Don't Tell what the post is about

  • No or Poor Formatting in post

  • My own interests as a reader change

  • No Longer Useful or Valuable

  • Too many links in the text and not enough content

  • Advertising

  • Inconsistent writing (style and focus)

  • Too Many Grammatical Errors

  • Found other feeds that are better

  • Too Narrow a focus

  • Too much repetition in topic

  • Pushiness of Blogger

  • Blogger Doesn't Respond to Comments

  • No Images in the feed

  • Lack of Confidence or Opinion

  • Too much clutter/extras at the end of posts

  • Talking Down to Readers

  • Too many quotes

  • Change of Primary blogger

From this list the most common reasons why your RSS readers unsubscribe from your blog is because of the lack of posts and too many posts. There needs to be a fine balance between the two. Try to find a happy medium between posting too much and too little and stick with it. You need to be consistent so that you readers don't get bored and unsubscribe from your feed.
