Top SEO Benefits of Blogging

By Mike Tazner

Having a blog is a must if you want to reap the full benefits of search engine optimization. Blogs are content-rich and usually focused on one specific them, which makes them easier for the search engine spiders to find. Here are some of the top SEO benefits of blogging for your business.

Linking Benefits

If you blog about a popular topic or give credit to another blogger in one of your posts, you're likely to get some quality one-way links from other blogs to yours. These links help new readers (and the search engine spiders) find your blog. Internal linking is also common with blogs. Blog owners can link to previous posts, which creates a positive search engine effect and also gives new readers the ability to catch up on old posts.

Updated Content

Many Web sites fail to benefit from SEO because their owners don't update content as frequently as they should. The search engines, along with readers, place a high level of importance on how often new content is added to a site. Because most people post on blogs at least once or twice a week, readers have something to look forward to and the search engine spiders have new content to crawl on a more frequent basis.

Community Interaction

Blogging is a great way to create a community of readers who interact with you and each other through the use of comments. By creating an active community, you are opening up more opportunities for links and positive publicity, which can improve your search engine rankings as well as your business reputation and thus maximizing your online strategy.

If you don't have a blog for your business, you need to get one up and running so you can take advantage of all the benefits blogging has to offer.

A Medical Blog As a Resource

By Ronny Abraham

What is a medical blog?

A medical blog is a web log that discusses various medical topics and provides great resources for all physicians.

What should a medical blog consist of?

-discussions of various medical topics

-a forum for all physicians at any stage of training to contribute or ask questions

-help pre-med students decide if medicine is right for them

-choosing the right medical school and getting into it

-resources that help students cope with medical school

-help medical students choose the right residency

-education to help residents cope with the tough residency years

-planning for the job after residency and the skills needed

As I went on my long journey to become a physician, I did not feel that I had the proper guidance. It seemed every time I needed an answer, I had to search deep and wide to find it. Not many were honest about their experiences in medical school, residency, and as an attending. There was so much uncertainty. What do I study? How long should I study? What books are the best? How do you balance medicine and life? These and a ton of other questions were always on my mind. I had to actively go and seek out the answers and a lot of times there was no direction, no clear answer. That's why I wish I had a medical blog that guided me through my medical education. I feel that everyone that goes through medicine needs some direction. A medical blog is a great solution to this problem.

Hope you all the best!

Increase Blog Traffic in 3 Easy Steps

By Justin Wright

So you write a really great article and post it on your blog, only to find out that no one has read it! Does this sound like you?

This is why generating traffic is so important. Unfortunately, it is the hardest thing for any blogger or webmaster to do. Without traffic, your blog has no chance at surviving on the internet. It will get buried with all of the other blogs that get little to no traffic. This is why most bloggers give up within two months are starting.

So How Do You Increase Traffic?

Here are three tips that will easily help generate more traffic to your blog:

1. Comment On Other Blogs

This is by far the easiest but beneficial way to increase your traffic. By commenting on other blogs, you not only engage another blogger but also put a link out there for other people to find you. Usually, a blogger will visit each site that someone leaves when they comment as a way of saying thanks.

If you leave a really good comment (which I recommend), many readers of the blog will also follow your link to see who your are and what your blog is about. So remember, leave relative comments and never spam. Bloggers never like receiving comments that say "Hey nice blog."

2. Trade Links With Other Blogs

Another way to get more traffic is by generating backlinks. This will not only increase your direct traffic, but will also increase your traffic from search engines like Google. There are many ways to trade or generate backlinks and they are all effective in different ways.

To start out, I would encourage you to find other blogs related to yours as contact them about swapping links. This could be as simple as putting each other on your blogrolls and linking to one another. This is a great way to get relevant links to your blog.

3. Use The Power of Forums

Forums are one of the most beneficial things to spend your time doing. You will learn more about internet marketing and how to increase your search engine rankings.

If learning and getting tips wasn't enough, you can also place links in your signature. That way every time you make a post in a forum, you have a link at the bottom that points to your website. This can also help get readers to find your blog. Now that you have an idea on how to start boosting traffic, get to work!

3 Magic Words to Your Online Business Success - Blog, Blog and Blog

By Juhani Tontti

Here is a great example: Finland had community elections during last weekend, where different candidates used several combinations of mediums. However a man, who got the biggest number of votes, used only one medium, his blog. Obviously, the power came from the content, which differed greatly from the usual political jargon.

This is an evidence, that blogging has power, if it is used correctly. My example was from politics, but the same rule concerns every home business online. Their target audiences are also people, who have specific needs for their own online home business, which you can fulfill with your own personal style.

Blogging Is Personal.

When you write regularly to your online home business blog, you can tie your reader into your own thoughts and to serve him regularly. Blogging requires an honest attitude and though content, where you are not allowed to cheat people. Blogging about the marketing of online business opportunity must use your honest knowledge without selling anything but your ideas.

You Must Protect Your Ideas.

The marketing of online home business can follow several tactics and strategies, but a single marketer can follow only his own one. This means that before you can share your tactics, you must select those carefully and to run your own home business opportunities with them.

The blogger must both support his own ideas but at the same time to fight against those tactics, which he thinks are worthless. In this way, he will teach his readers, what is his marketing style. This will build his brand over time.

The Blog Must Become An Important Part Of The Network.

Bloggers form useful networks, where the information goes quickly. Naturally these networks are communities of the marketers, which appreciate each other. At the same time they fulfil each others expertise, because they are experts in their own niches only.

Think about the value of this kind of community. What a goldmine of online home business expertise. I argue that blog is the only medium with which you can publish your private thoughts both publicly but still inside a certain community.

Comments Create More Value.

Blog is a very interactive medium. The owner casts some topic and ideas about his online home business, but the readers can comment and add their own experiences, which ususally are very useful, real power tips.

This is the way to get the latest news from the market, which makes it possible to react quickly if needed. Sharing proven tips fine tunes the marketing of all members, which raises the value of your online home business blog.

If you concentrate on your blog, its content and look, it can become your only medium, which really can draw visitors and become an opinion leader in your niche. When blog is seen personal, it will raise your name into the lips of the marketers of online home business. Think about this!

Simple Steps to Set Up Feedburner

By Charles Chestnut

The FeedBurner Idea

The basic premise behind FeedBurner, for any reader who may not know, is rss or Really Simple Syndication. This allows bloggers to submit there feed to the network and in turn any readers who want to can simply subscribe and view a live text feed of the blog in any online reader. Each blog has its own feed URL which the posts are published on. Subscribers using FeedBurner, or other similar feed readers, then subscribe to the blog posts without having to visit the site every day. It is much easier for subscribers to read the site with a reader. Although it is much harder to monetize than a normal blog it helps to build readership and following thanks to its ease of use.

Some Simple Steps to Set Up FeedBurner

1. Head on over to FeedBurner.com and set up a free account for your blog.

2. Next, you will need to set up your blog feed. If you already know your blog feed than you can enter it in the field that is provided (you can't miss the field). If you don't know your feed it is generally something like yourblogtitle.com/feed. However, you can also just enter the URL for your blog and Feed Burner's automatic feed searcher should pick it up for you. Just follow the setup process through until the configuration page and be sure to click the Pro option because it is now free since Google has acquired it.

3. Now you need to put the code for your feed onto your site. This will allow people to subscribe to your blog. If you do not have any rss or feed buttons such as this one go to the publicize tab in the FeedBurner main page. Select the option to add chicklets and this will allow you to choose one that you like and give you the code for that chicklet. Then, either using a wordpress textbox widget or imbedding the code directly into your script place the widget on your site.

4. Technically you need to imbed the code for your feed into your widgets but a very simple way to do this is to download the wordpress plugin FeedSmith. This will do all the FeedBurner coding work for you. Simply download FeedSmith. Next, upload it to your plugins folder. Once it is uploaded you need to activate it and enter your feed URL, which if you remember you can find in your FeedBurner account homepage.

Inspiration - 5 Ways to Come Up With New Ideas

By Thomas Strumpski

The one thing about blogging is that after awhile, it can be difficult to come up with interesting topics that people will want to continually read. Sooner or later the ideas dry up and you may sit there and wonder where the new ones will come.

This happens to me more than I care to admit, so here are a few things that help me recharge my well of ideas:

Current Events

Often picking up the paper or checking the news online is an easy way to come up with quick topics. Especially, with the market crashing, there are topics aplenty.

Previous Posts

Looking through previous posts can trigger your memory and you may want to elaborate on something you've already written.

Something Unrelated

Do a post on something personal or a topic that is not related to your blog. I think I might do a post on movies sometime. I really love movies.

Take a Break

Take a break - burnout could be setting in and it might be wise to pause and reflect. But don't take too much time off - fickle blog readers might not come back to your site!

Guest Postings

Have someone else do a post on your site. It will give you a break plus it will be interesting for you readers to hear from someone else for once.

I actually like to schedule my posts ahead of time so that I never run out of ideas but sometimes with life being hectic and busy, it can still be difficult.

At the end of the day, inspiration is all about perspiration - that means you have to put the time and work in!

My name is Thomas Strumpski and I am an accountant and aspiring singer! I've been an accountant for over 15 years and recently have gotten into the world of blogging.

Please feel free to check out my blog on personal finance and development!

Is Writing Great Content Enough to Build a Popular Blog?

By Neil Bergh

Many people have asked that question, and I thought I should give my two cents on the subject.

I don't think it is necessarily to have to succeed in the short term, just because you write good content and even if you don't do any promotion at all. Sure if you have anything absolutely revolutionary people will find it sooner or later but there are plenty of other sites that also have great content.

There is also the issue about what genre you are writing in. Some genres are just more popular than other, and if you have managed to find something really small you may have a problem. Although if you write in English in this globalized world, I think the risk that the genre is to small is probably very slim.

Good content

Now don't get me wrong here. Great content is the absolute core of a blog. If you don't care about your content you will fail sooner or later, no matter of how much marketing or money you use. But with great content and a few marketing ideas you should get your share of visitors. Just to illustrate the importance of content I can mention that one of the best link building strategies actually is to write good content. Link baiting. The idea is that people will link to your site if you provide something special. You must just know what kind of posts that are likely to draw peoples attention.

I hope you have learned something from this.

Microblogging For Business

By Mhairi Petrovic

Microblogging is quickly becoming one of the most popular technologies on the Internet with adoption of tools like Twitter growing at an exponential rate.

As the number of people using these technologies grows, the way people take advantage of them is becoming more sophisticated: they are being used more and more as a business tool. This article explains what microblogging is and introduces the most popular microblog sites. It discusses how these are being used from a business and marketing perspective and provides tips on safe and effective use of these forums.

What is a Microblog?

Microblogs are very simple internet technologies that allow users to post short statements or sentences, usually limited to 140 characters on a central site. The post can be made available to anyone or only to a chosen audience. Much like the Facebook status box these services were used initially as a forum to share triviality (like what was for breakfast) with a wide audience but people quickly tired of the banality and now the way microblogs are used is becoming more sophisticated.

Sometimes seen as a factor in the evolution of blogging, micro blogs are, as the name suggests, like mini blogs in that they allow you to post information and streams of consciousness and make these available to the world over the Internet. Unlike a blog, however, a microblog doesn't have unlimited room for creativity - you are forced to get to the point.

Which Microblog?

By far the largest microblog is Twitter (according to Hitwise in Australia alone the popular microblog grew by over 500% new users in one calendar month this summer). Twitter was founded in 2006 and quickly gained attention by winning a prestigious South by South West Blog award in the spring of 2007. Although the site is growing at a tremendous rate, the user volume is still very small in comparison to social networking behemoths like MySpace. Using a simple clean interface, users can get set up and start Twittering really easily.

Another microblog technology that is growing in popularity is Plurk. Plurk differs from Twitter in that it provides a more visual "timeline" interface showing your "Plurks" and those you are following on a time sheet-style screen. Just launched in May this year, Plurk is a little more complex than Twitter to use but once you get the hang of it, it definitely appeals to those left brained people among us.

The omnipresent Google of course has its own version of a microblog which they obtained in late 2007. Jaiku has since been closed to new users as they beta test the latest version (which seems very visually appealing with a nice map interface). Request a beta invite to try it out.

The other major player in the microblog scene is Pownce. This one is very similar to Twitter in its look and feel but it has more capabilities in terms of being able to share files and events. Also Pownce doesn't limit you to 140 characters so you can add more detail to your posts.

Newcomers in the field Spoink promote microblogging by phone from wherever you happen to be. Nothing new in that since most of the other offerings allow you to post from your mobile but what is different about Spoink is that it features the ability to podcast from anywhere. This is one to watch.

Microblogging for Business

Now that we know more about microblogs and the tools in this arena, let's take a look at how companies and individuals are using microblogs to benefit their businesses.

The first thing any company or professional should do is to ask themselves: is a microblog pertinent to my business? are my peers using this service? and, more importantly, are my customers either using or listening (monitoring these forums) to microblogs? The early microblog adopters tended to be the youth market and the tech community but more and more mainstream professionals and companies are becoming active as time goes on. If you decide that your audience is applicable then the benefits of microblogging actively are numerous:

A microblog presence is a stellar way to establish expertise and build awareness of what you or your company does. Build your brand by regularly posting on your subject area. Remember to add your logo and branding to the design of your microblog page and link to back to your blog if you have one so that your microblog contacts are aware of it and can click to read more. Threadless, the T shirt company that has made social media marketing an art form uses Twitter (@threadless) to update their audience regularly in this way.

Microblogs are a great way to expand your network and build your contacts. To do so share neat links and always add value for your followers, if you do this effectively you can sit back and watch your contacts expand.

Microblogs provide a good source for the latest information in your industry - if you're following the right people, that is. Be cognizant of this as you add friends. Check out posts and look for those that add value, are industry luminaries or are using the forum in innovative ways. Network with peers in your industry to develop your knowledge and to build better partnerships.

Microblogs are shorter than blogs and more concise so if you only have a few moments you can hone in on the juicies more readily. If you don't have time to blog but still have something pressing you want to share, microblogs are a great way to do this quickly and effectively.

Microblog technology can be used to expand the reach of your service and spread word quickly. An example is the police and fire services using Twitter to get the word out in emergency cases. The Los Angeles Fire Department (@LAFD) uses Twitter to spread fire related Tweets to interested parties.

By linking or announcing new articles or changes to your site from a microblog you can drive more traffic to your site. Twitter is now the 4th largest driver of traffic to the Out-Smarts blog.

Use microblogs for research by monitoring what's being said about your product or industry so you can keep ahead of the pack. It's also an excellent medium to elicit feedback on an issue you need more information on or are in the dark about. Tweetscan is a very simple tool that facilitates listening.

Some companies are using microblog technology too collaborate on projects with decentralised participants or colleagues in short blasts. The CBC recently did this to great effect on Twitter during the Canadian federal election and were able to incorporate feedback from Twitterers on the ground in many constituencies.

While direct selling on microblogs is discouraged, many companies use it to bring awareness of the existence/benefits of their products and services to new markets or to provide customer service updates. Whole Foods (@wholefoods), an organic food chain headquartered in Texas does exactly that whilst adding value by Twittering on community events and organic topics too.

Effective Twittering Tips

I have it on good authority that the Twitter microblog site is this year's web 2.0 tool of choice for net savvy professionals to communicate with and grow their networks. Here are some tips for you to use to tweak your "tweets" and get more out of your Twitter presence:

Add value - don't just spout off about boring stuff. Nobody is interested in what color shoes you are wearing (maybe your underwear but definitely not your shoes!).

Use TinyURL or a similar url abbreviation tool to shorten the length of url links in your Twitter posts so they fit in the 140 character limit.

Don't spam or sell.

Friends and Followers - be selective about who you follow. Before you follow someone, check out their recent Tweets to see if they are of interest to you before you add them (they may not be of interest at all). If someone starts following you, don't automatically add them and follow - take a look at the number of followers they have compared to their following If someone is following way more people than they have followers then it may be best to avoid them. They could be "Follow Spammers" more interested in gaining exposure than in finding interesting Tweets.

Don't let Twitter suck up too much of your time - it can be very distracting. Instead schedule it in to your week and spend a few minutes each day updating and enjoying.

Limit the number of people you follow to avoid Twitter information overload. If you're following too many people, you might miss that gem of information.

Use Twitterfeed to feed your blog to Twitter.

Monitor the Tweetosphere and make sure you are aware of anyone who mentions you so that it comes to your attention and you can be ready to counter any adverse Twittering. Use Tweetscan to monitor what is being said about you or your company on Twitter.

Don't click on a link from anyone you don't know or trust. Many Twitterers use TinyURL or similar to shorten URLs (I do) but this camouflages the true source so you don't know what you're clicking on. These could be disguised links to potentially dangerous sites or viral downloads so be careful.

Read the Twitter blog for updates and information on malware and spam issues.

Secure your Twitter name. Get a Twitter profile in your business name before someone else does.

Use common sense when Twittering and remember that most of these announcements can be seen by anyone and everyone. You don't really have to announce that you're away from home.

If someone you're following overloads you with spam then use the Twitter block at the right of the side panel to block them and let Twitter know too.

Call on the community. If something adverse does happen then make your community aware of it. You will be amazed at the support, advice and action of the collective.

Conclusion

If you decide that your business can benefit from microblogging, participation in these sites can really impact your online marketing efforts, drive more traffic to your site and increase brand awareness. Before you start microblogging, take some time to check out the different offerings to find out which is best for you. Once you choose, schedule time to microblog and grow your contacts and always look to add value and tell your community something they don't know. If you decide to hold off on microblogging for now, keep this on your radar: with its speedy user adoption rate. It's only a matter of time before, like social networks, these become mainstream.

Will Blogging Actually Help Mothers De-Stress?

By Marsha Maung

I've known a lot of mothers who have problems with stress simply because they are or become inevitably ostracized from the rest of the world. For most of them, it's not a matter of choice, but more a matter of time.

Being cooped up all alone at home dealing day-in and day-out with a demanding baby can drive a mother, just about anyone, for that matter, crazy! And if you think are, you're not alone. I didn't think going crazy was a real enough word to describe how it actually felt like to be a new mother. Days loop over other days, every second of the time, there's something to be done. The love that a mother feels for her newborn child can be very, very overwhelming.

Don't, not even for a minute, think that it's the way it's supposed to be. Well, to a certain extent, yes, being new to motherhood IS a lot like that. But you're not crazy. With the barrage of activities at home, you're bound to feel wound up. And then there would be the little-little issues over which diaper brand to use, whose turn it is to feed the baby and well-meant advice from other elderly people or the in-laws. It all adds up to a huge mountain of obstacles that might seem a little too hard to throttle up over.

The biggest help for you, as a new mother, is to find an outlet. With how accessible the internet is, many new mothers (seasoned mothers too, in fact) find solace in the fact that they can jot down their memories, the exciting moments, share pictures, write their thoughts down or find advice from friends with the use of a blog. Many of these mothers use their real personalities. For someone who wants a little bit more privacy or would like to be able to blog about the dirtiest secrets that you would like to post into your motherhood blog, you might want to choose being anonymous.

You could name your blog 'amothertryingtobesane' or 'sanityinquestion' or 'newtomotherhood' instead of using your real name. With this, even if you post blog entries about how motherhood is eating away at your self-esteem, you don't have to hide. The problem with using your real personality is that you'd be afraid of what your friends or family might think of you when they read your motherhood blog.

Another option is for you to start your own blog with either blogspot or wordpress (you can choose others if you want, it's just a matter of preference) and check the box where it says only people that you know can access the blog content.

This way, no unwanted visitors can come in and read into every single detail of your life if you don't want them to! The point is that, it's important for you to find the time to sit down and blog about your new life as a mother and share it with others so that you can use it as an outlet of release. You don't have to popularize it if you don't want to but a lot of mothers with blogs find joy in connecting with other mothers who have blog as well.

Sometimes, you'll be surprised with this, these blog visitors can turn into life-long friends.

Creating a Schedule For Your Blogging Business

By Larry McCullough

If you have decided to start a blogging business, it is important for you to create a schedule that you can stick with that will give you the time necessary to devote to your blogging activities. When creating a schedule, however, there are numerous things you need to take into consideration in order to create a schedule that is realistic for you and for your business success.

Factors to Consider When Creating a Schedule

The factors a blogger needs to consider when creating a schedule will vary from one person to the next because everyone's situation is not the same. Nonetheless, some factors you might need to include when creating your schedule include:

Your family

Your job

Your educational commitments

Other personal commitments

When you work best

Your short term and long term goals

The purpose of your blog

If you have a family and you are still trying to juggle a job while you get your blogging business off the ground, you will have far less time during the day to commit to your business. Even if you don't have any other personal commitments at the time, you also need to be aware of your personal working style so you can create a schedule that allows you to work on your blog at the times when you are the most productive. In addition, the amount of time you devote to your blog will also be determined by what you hope to achieve from your blog and when you hope to reach these goals.

Creating a Schedule

After considering all of the other commitments that you have to take care of, you should be able to create a schedule that allows you to spend time working on your blogs while also taking care of your commitments. Be sure to create a schedule that allows you to still spend plenty of time with your family so your loved ones do not feel neglected or resentful of your business. In fact, when creating your schedule, you should discuss the business with your family and get their input. That way, you can create a schedule that will work for you as well as for your family.

Once you do create a schedule, it is important for you to stick to it. Many people who work at home are easily sidetracked by the apparent flexibility of working at home. But, once you start allowing yourself to veer away from your schedule in order to take care of other matters, you will quickly find yourself falling behind. Make sure your family and friends are aware of when you have scheduled your work time so you can give your full attention to your business. At the same time, when it is family time, resist the urge to work on your blog - that time is theirs, and you should all be enjoying it together.

Why You Should Take Blog Commenting Seriously

By Karan Bhatia

Many people frown upon blog commenting as a means for marketing websites and blogs. They term it as spam Period! No explanation will make them think of this as a healthy and legitimate method of spreading a word about your sites.

But you can't blame them for this attitude of scorn towards blog commenting. There are hordes of blatant comments on blog posts on the web hoping to get some PR juice. In keeping in mind the PR juice they forget the more important entity in the scenario, the blog reader and the blog owner. A random comment on a highly informative blog post ends up demeaning the brand of the website or blog it is promoting. Neither will the blog owner or the readers will ever endorse your site.

Instead of this unrestrained deluge of commenting why not find interesting, related topics and add value to it. A good comment which adds two cents to the ongoing discussion will surely draw more targeted traffic and give the website a chance at word of mouth marketing too. Again its, no rocket science, it just needs some observant reading, some patience and little more time.

Think of blog commenting as distributing pamphlets in a neighborhood or colony. Would you want your pamphlet to be simple crumbled and crushed by the receiver and thrown away? Would you want the receiver to have a look at it and then forget it immediately?

I am sure you would want to be perceived as somebody unique and who registers in the customer's memory.

Blog commenting, my dear friend is no different! Take it little more seriously and you would not only make a strong impact about yourself but also end up making web a better place.

How to Set Up a Blog and Make Money Blogging - Part 1

By Terry Till

So you want to know how to set up a blog and more importantly once you have set up your blog you need to understand how to make money from your blog.

Lets start by understanding what a blog is and why it is so popular a way to set up a website to provide online information that the search engines and more importantly the people who use the internet love.

A blog, or web log, is a website that originally people set up to post their daily posts and comments to so that other people who might also have an interest in their particular subject could read and add comments to if they wanted to.

Although there were many different script platforms that bloggers used for their blog site the one that most preferred and possibly the number one type of blog script used to set up a blog was wordpress.

The reasons for using wordpress was firstly that it was a free blog script so anyone could download it and use on any of their websites and secondly it was remarkably easy to install.

Once you have downloaded the wordpress blog script you can upload it to your website server and install manually or if you have a hosting account that supports fantastico you can automatically install it online and with very little effort.

Whichever method you choose to install your wordpress blog it should not take you more that a few minutes once you understand the very basic requirements of what you need to make the script work.

On a basic wordpress script installation this means purely completing the MySQL database information on the configuration file and with the Fantasico installation even this part of the script installation is done automatically for you.

When you have installed the blog script you can then enter the admin area and customise the script to suit your own particular needs and visual requirements.

Adding adsense ads or other means of sales items is easily accomplished and I will look into this matter in more detail in my next article called how to set up a blog and make money blogging part 2.

A Blog Can Be an Effective Tool For Promoting Online

By Terry Philpott

With growing appeal blogs appear to be challenging conventional websites as the most effective tool for promoting online. No matter if it's an idea, product, or service, there's no doubt blogging is gaining a wider acceptance as the platform of choice for communicating to the 'internet audience.'

Could it be possible that blogs will eventually replace the 'conventional' website as the primary internet platform for such communicative and/or promotional purposes? Possibly, but websites still have their place online.

An online survey would reveal that many websites and blogs are 'linked' to one another for referencing purposes. This seems more like a consolidation of effort than a battle of superiority.

So why and how do these two different types of sites work together?

Blogs interact with the visitors. By leaving comments in the form of opinions or suggestions readers feel they have more of a say in what they are exposed to at a blog. Bloggers therefore have a greater insight into what their visitors want or need.

The presentation of solutions for theses wants or needs in the form of products or services can be displayed at a website where visitors expect to be exposed to the 'rigors' of marketing. It is their option to visit these sites.

Combining the mutually exclusive characteristics of websites and blogs can enhance the overall marketing process.

Let's review some of the points that have spurred the appeal for blogging and seemingly made it the 'perfect compliment' to the more conventional website.

Blogging Pros

  • Blogs are more dynamic than websites since they are usually updated much more frequently than websites. Maintaining fresh content as a result leads to stronger search engine rankings.

  • Due to the interactivity between reader and site owner blogs offer the chance to build a relationship with visiting readers.

  • Blog visitors do not feel the sales pressure at a blog like they would at a website thereby increasing the probability of them returning.

  • Blogs are less complicated to operate and maintain as compared to websites.

  • Software needed for blogging is often times free or inexpensive.

  • The ability to link easily to numerous points of reference, social sites, and other sites of your own is another plus that again leads to stronger search engine rankings and additional traffic.

And of course as is the case there are sometimes drawbacks: Let's review a couple of them here.

Blogging Cons

  • Blogs are still not completely accepted and/or regarded as 'legitimate' by some of the internet mainstream due to their earlier reputations as maverick platforms for random ranting's and imposing opinions.

  • Maintaining fresh and current content on a blog can be time consuming.

As you can see the benefits of a blog outnumber the drawbacks. Used correctly blogs have proven to be an effective tool for promoting online; perhaps you should consider incorporating this tool into your current marketing plan?

How Blogging Can Improve Your Sales

By Terri Polk

Once upon a time, blogs were little more than online diaries for ordinary folks to have fun with. Oh, how far we have come. Today, blogs are rapidly becoming powerful marketing tools, and more and more businesses are realizing that, just like websites years ago, a business blog is essential if you want to have that edge. Blogging, in fact, can help your business in multiple ways. Here, I've outlined some ways in which a blog can improve sales, as well as some tips for maximizing its potential:

Blogging Gives your Customers a Human Experience

People are social creatures. When a potential customer makes a connection with another real person, they begin to associate your business with warmth and humanity. Plus, blogging gives your customers an outlet to connect to you and to have their voices heard. People really appreciate that. In fact, from those warm fuzzy feelings, two highly coveted traits begin to develop: customer trust and loyalty.

You can Brag about your Customers

A really neat tool for business blogs is to regularly feature posts with your clients' success stories. For example, if your business is a printing company, write a blog entry about a client who had brochures printed by you and whose business increased dramatically afterwards. Of course you'll need that client's permission, but most will be thrilled to get the publicity and best of all, that client will likely send their friends and family to your blog. Voila! You've just gained exposure, and most likely, a few more clients.

RSS Feeds Keeps your Clients Nearby

Almost all blogging software comes with what is called Really Simple Syndication (RSS) programs which, in essence, tie your customers to you. RSS programs allows people to subscribe to your blog, and keeps them updated on new posts by sending them an email or a post to their social networking site. It's a nifty little tool, and essential for maintaining those loyal customers.

Blogs Improve Search Engine Rankings

Because the very nature of blogging requires frequently updated and fresh content, blogs are very conducive to improving your business's rankings on popular search engines like Goggle. This is one reason why search engine optimization companies (SEOs) love blogs. The more fresh, relevant content your blog contains, the better of a result you will get with your search engine rankings.

Higher rankings of course, gets you more exposure, and in the end, more sales. In essence, blogging for your business is a win-win decision.

What is a Blog and How You Can Make Money With One?

By Suzy Bremner

Blog. Its a buzz word for the 2000s, everyone is talking about them, gossip queen blogs, financial blogs, life blogs - they're all out there.

The word Blog comes from two words "web log" and is a sort of 'online diary' of thoughts, events, pictures, general rantings or videos.

Blogs can vary greatly in content, with some being focused on a particular subject or niche, and others being a more broad scope or even personal diary.

Lately there has been a craze about earning money through blogging. This can be done in a number of ways. If you already have a successful blog, or are thinking about starting one up, you can introduce third part advertising as a way to earn income. This is regularly done through Google AdSense, Yahoo Overture, or equivalent systems.

Another option is to directly market a product. This is done by sourcing a product through a marketplace such as Commission Junction or Clickbank, and creating an affiliate link. When someone clicks from your blog and purchases a product, you are paid a commission. You can also become a product affiliate directly from many businesses' websites.

These money making tactics are the two most basic and easy to apply, but in order to make money you need to drive traffic to your website by generating backlinks and creating interest through news services and social bookmarks.

Once your blog is up and running and you regularly add new post and news, you will find that your visitors and revenue slowly increase to make a regular worthwhile passive income.

In just 3 months I have gone from making zero to $3000 a month passive income with Firepow Software. This amazing tool is worth its weight in gold!

Last Blogger Standing

By Nevil Darukhanawala

It had finally happened! I am the last blogger alive and this is my story.

The year was 2012 when the final holocaust hit the world one fateful weekend morning, destroying every living thing on this planet except my notebook, my only other possession left, and me.

Why was I saved? Maybe to write my last blog post as the final witness to the destruction of the planet, a planet we call Earth. As I sat down to write my last blog, I wondered who would read my blog? There was no other life left on this planet. Did I hope that a future generation would resurrect from the ashes of the past or an intelligent new race would inhabit this planet? Did I hope to pass on a message to this future?

Or was there no hope, and no future...

I had witnessed pain, and suffering, death and destruction, wars and desolation. I had seen hungry eyes, tired souls, the young shivering and the old dying. I had seen family and friends wither away like leaves in the autumn.

I had seen "that day" when judgment was passed against mankind. My tears had all dried up. I was carrying the graves of a million on my sagging shoulders, of people once living, now just bones scattered on ancient grounds. All that was left...was a story to be told...my last blog entry before I would end my life.

Yes, today was the day I would see my last sunset, eat my last meal, and write my last blog post. No more could I bear the loneliness or seek the truth. What had gone so wrong? I was not really sure. Had we not heard the footsteps of deaths angels as they crept upon us, in the silence of the nights, their fiery caress on our souls?

Were we so busy in out petty preoccupations that we ignored life's imploring cry for its survival. When had man turned so hostile towards man? Oh why had we not shed tears when life was crying for our help, when fellow species were slaughtered for food and game, when man sold his soul for power and riches? I shed a tear for forgiveness for mankind's final sin - his own destruction.

I sat down in silent prayer, my eyelids closed...visions of children playing, laughing, the sun shining in a clear blue sky, and my last breath escaped. No more pain, no more sorrow, my last wish - Hope for a new beginning.

A lot of people enjoy blogging. But one of the things that a lot of people are doing with blogging which is a bit mistake is that hey are blogging about things that they have no idea about. Here are some suggestions that you should keep in mind when it comes to blogging.

Blog about what you know

One of the things that you should do is to blog about what you know. Otherwise, you are going to write things that may give people the wrong information or advice. You don't want someone to make the wrong decision due to your information on your blog.

Research

If you want to blog about something which you don't have any knowledge about, take time and do some research. This way you aren't going to simply be giving information that is only your opinion.

Use a disclaimer

If you are blogging about something that you don't know about, put a disclaimer that you are only writing this as an opinion and that you don't know much about the subject. This way people aren't going to take your word as law and you won't be steering anyone the wrong way.

The Philosophy and Psychology of Dealing With Aggressive Bloggers and Hostile Folks in Forums Online

By Lance Winslow

There are a lot of books out there, many best sellers, which assist people in dealing with hard to deal with people. Indeed there are also those who make a living off giving speeches to help managers deal with aggressive employees in the work place and help them diffuse such situations. There is too much violence in the workplace and it can become a huge challenge, not to mention a legal risk.

Dealing with such stressful situations requires finesse and skill, and it is never easy. Or if they wanted to deal well in such stressful situations, well they could just take Prozac and then deny anyone access to their medical records? But let's say that you want to be able to deal with these things without taking mind altering drugs, then what? Should you attend a seminar on this topic? It does sound like an interesting class to take, and you can learn quite a bit even in a one-day symposium.

Will a class dealing with violence in the workplace or dealing with difficult people assist you online? Yes actually and the reason is simple. You see, although humans are willing to say things online that they would not say in person, chances are they are thinking these things in person also. The same tactics thus, work both online and offline. There is however a difference when dealing with hostile millennials and dealing with the aggressive baby boomer.

Of course, perhaps you have noticed that the entitlement tendencies of the millennials are such that often there are those that cannot handle any comment that might disturb their little self-esteem. For this type of individual you find yourself challenged and online you find them everywhere.

If you do not constantly coddle them and compliment they seem to be label you "aggressive." A total reversal and trick of manipulation through some sort of new code of social conduct, almost like race baiting to get you to conform to their will. Now you can play this game if you wish, but you are playing in their world and their game, and under their rules; are you sure this is wise?

One baby boomer who got frustrated dealing with such attacks online in blogs and Internet Forums stated recently; "Someone needs to kick these kids in the butt. They have no work ethic, no integrity; complain about everything, it's amazing. If they don't feel warm and fuzzy all the time they get upset. I think someone needs to teach a class on how to deal with "passive" people that (PPGTB) Passive-People that will not Get-Off-Their-Butts!"

Interesting comments and apparently he is not alone in his thoughts, so maybe some speaker or self-help coach ought to teach a class in that. Indeed, such a class needs to be set up in dealing with people online who trash forums, BBS, blogs with their detracting comments under false and fake identities. There is just too much of that, it's really make the communication on the Internet problematic.

Oh and speaking of "aggressive folks," I met a gal the other day who was only a 105 pounds and worked as a bouncer. Seemed to do fine with it, and that was in the real world, so it is possible for anyone to deal with aggressive people and just think, online nobody knows what you look like, so it is easy to employ these tactics and techniques. Please think on this.

Make Money Blogging - The Story of My Travel Blog

By Kurt Bai

Back in August this year, after I said goodbye to that heart breaking blackhat community, I started my travel blog about the city I'm living in. I have thought about other topics that I could build a blog on, but I was not confident because I'm no expert in any of the topics I'm interested in. Then I thought, the city I'm living in just successfully hosted the 29th Olympics, there must be lots of people planning to come and visit. Why don't I blog about the city? Then I started researching on the web for similar websites or blogs that are providing related information.

Like I have imagined, there are lots of it. The competition must be tough if I don't have something new. I then recalled what a foreign visitor once said about travelling in the city in a TV show. He said he likes the fancy restaurants, the popular tourist attractions and all that stuff, but he prefers to experience the ordinary citizens' life in the city. Their traditional residences, customs, recreation, and their unique way of life in general. That's a good idea I said. Since I've been living in the city for over 8 years and I was sure there are loads of interesting stuff to write about. And as you may have imagined, there's very little competition.

I bought an expensive camera and started wondering in the city and record the ordinary people's life, which most online publishers tend to ignore. I tell my readers on the blog the hidden places to taste the best traditional food, the secret underground live rock shows, the benefits of our traditional sports, the best places to find bargain electronics, how to avoid falling into all kinds of traps, etc. Surprisingly, lots of visitors really liked it. A group of 21 foreigners from 13 countries even thanked me for the surviving guide I wrote about a major IT products market. I was so encouraged and worked harder to provide quality information.

I know I've taken the right route, but I wasn't ready for a bigger surprise. Two offline magazine publishers contacted me on the same day and asked for permission to re-publish my articles on their websites and also in their paper magazines. I agreed and didn't ask for any monetary compensation because I know apart from bringing me more traffic, the traditional media exposure will sure help establish my image as a unique travel expert of the city.

Now number of visitors of the blog is steadily rising every day and I continue to write quality articles and provide useful information. It becomes a routine to brain storm interesting topics to write, travel at the "forgotten" places, and record what I see representing the true life in the city. And I really fell in love with what I'm doing.

Among various lucky elements, I attribute the relatively fast success of the blog to quality content. Unique perspective, real insider information, and practical and personal views and experiences all add to the quality of the content.

Trust me, being unique and fresh in a useful way can do wonder in your journey to become a full-time blogger. Here's to your success!

Make Money Blogging - Stay Away From Blackhat Techniques

By Kurt Bai

I guess most online marketers or people who wants to make money online are like me, want to get rich quick. That's where black hat techniques come in. By black hat I mean, not illegal, not immoral, but against some companies' TOS, such as Google.

The software application and techniques offered by a black hat community that I joined half year ago utilize Google's spider to bring large amount of traffic in a short time. The destination page that people click on is not the same with what they see in the SERPs, instead, it has been redirected to a sales page of the product that the person was searching for in Google. Of course, the product vendor is affiliated with the one who created the fake web pages and the redirects. This is powerful technique because the traffic is extremely targeted, and conversions are high. Google will soon find out what you are doing and delete your pages from the search results. But you may have already made more than your investment, which include a couple of domain names, a dedicated or shared hosting, and subscription to the software. Repeat the process again and again, you'll make a lot of money since the ROI is pretty.

It sounds logical and promising. However, you should not do it if you are not a pro! Lots of newbies and intermediate online marketers have been tricked into using the service because the creator promised that the whole system and concept is as straight forward as it could be and anyone with minimal knowledge of computer and internet could use it without any problems. They always say that.

Now let me explain why you should avoid such services like plague.

1. High cost

Cost for the service mainly include 3 parts. First, you need to pay around $70, if not higher per month for the service. Second, you need to find yourself a hosting, costs from $15 to $200 per month depending on your need. Third, you need to buy a lot of domain names. By a lot I mean at least 300 a month. That costs at least $2000 if you buy .com domain names. You won't hold for long if you don't achieve the ROI the creator promised. And most likely, you won't.

2. Knowledge

The software I used, like most similar ones out there, was not developed with the newbies in mind like the creators promised. It was straight forward, but in order to use it without problems, you have to know how to set up non-cpanel servers, write commands, and configure lots of things on your end. This is too techy to most online marketing newbies or intermediate marketers. In addition, in order to achieve good results, you need to know how to build websites, get them indexed, and gain pr3 or pr4 from Google. That takes a lot of time and effort if you know how to do it.

3. Research and Competition

In order to make commissions, you first have to find converting merchants from all the advertisers in affiliate programs such as CJ, Share A Sale, etc. You need to apply to all programs within the network and try out each one using several domain names. If you are lucky and spot a couple of converting merchants, you then start building massive amounts of domains for them and redirect traffic to your affiliated sales pages. If you are not lucky, you have to continue research the market and needs like every normal business would do.

Competition is fierce because you are not only competing with black hatters within your community, but other dozens of communities out there. You may make a couple of commissions from now and then first, but maybe just a month later, commissions stop coming in because your competitors have already upgraded their servers, used Xrumer to get insane amount of backlinks, and used other powerful techniques that you have no idea about. Why can't you do the same? Because firstly it costs more money, secondly, you simply don't know how.

I upgraded to a dedicated server that costed $179 a month after commissions stopped coming in. I was so sure that this time I'll make it because I already have 5 converting merchants. I just need to build lots of domains for them and let my powerful server do the rest. But, none of that happened. Building domain names was becoming an astounding task. Not only I couldn't manage the work load, my computer simply quit. Then I noticed a guy in the community offering a software that can automate the building process and it seemed everybody using it have achieved remarkable results. It costed $37 a month. What the heck, I said. But I took the plundge and ordered the service. Guess what? Yes, it required me to configure servers and things like that in order for it to do wonder. You can use it without doing so like the creator promised, but it won't perform like what you have in mind. I bought thousands of domain names, installed them, brought traffic, but no commissions. It shouldn't have been, but it was sadly true. Later I found out the real money earners inside the community, the creator himself and a couple of other guys who graduated from computer science departments have found another technique to outperform the newbies! They suck up all the fat commissions themselves and they charge you every month for having bones they left!

I decided to give it another try and learn the new technique. I found someone in the forum offering free domain names. He was reputed in the community and there was no reason not to trust him. Like lots of others, I paid for 50 domain names and waited for full refund as he promised. Bamm, a month later, we were told we have been scammed. The admin now came out and said "I know this would happen!" Instead of helping us finding the scammer, he just accused us and walked away! Another $400 out of my pocket and totally heart broken.

That's when I decided to stop playing the game and start again from scratch. I wasted money and time, but I got a clear idea of which route I should take. That is, legitimate online business.

Don't do black hat if you are just starting out in the online world. Even if you have online marketing experience and knowledge, you should not try it if you don't have sufficient fund and expertise in the techy stuff. It will only burn your pocket and break your heart.

Make Money Blogging - Stay Away From Article Writing Software

By Kurt Bai

Getting unique quality content for your blogs is one of the most important factors to determine success. However, lots of blog owners are either not passionate about writing, or find it hard to turn what's in their mind into words. That's where the gurus come in to sell you various software programs claiming the sweet little scripts can write on any topic for you in a second. Some charge a one time fee, some are subscription based. Continue reading and see why you should not trust these software programs.

I personally have tried out several article writing software programs because I was searching for a way to write on things that I don't have a lot of knowledge or expertise about, when the time I was trying to make $100 a day from 100 blogs. I soon gave up as you can imagine, writing articles for even just 10 blogs is impossible, even with the help of the software programs.

Most article writing software programs work in the same way. They first perform a search query for the keyword you type in on several search engines, gather related information, and stick them together to make them into a whole piece. It looks nice at first glance, but when you start reading you will find it unbearable to continue. The information is scattered, covers various areas on the same topic, and has no logic through out. In order to make the piece unique enough to pass Copyscape, some software programs have the function of spinning the articles by replacing certain words and phrases with synonyms, which make the articles even more unreadable for the words and phrases have lost their original meaning in the context.

Imagine the consequence of putting up articles like these to your blogs. Maybe the search engines will index fast for the content is unique to the robots' eyes. But your human readers will soon be put off. You are only hurting your business.

Instead of trusting the gurus' ad copy (believe me they are really pros in persuading you buying their products that never deliver), you must write yourself! Don't worry about your writing skills. You are not creating a masterpiece in literature, you are just providing useful information. Write in your own style from your own experiences and expertise, that way your readers will love you for the information you provide, and more importantly, your honesty and sincerity.

Tomorrow I will talk about how I learned to write in a fast and effective manner, and enjoy myself along the way.

You may not know that I'm not a native English speaker. I'm from China. I'm confident in writing in English, why can't you? So stop believing in the gurus and seeking help from software programs, start writing on your own!

Make Money Blogging - How to Generate Traffic Using Web 2.0 Sites

By Kurt Bai

I've been using some of the most popular web 2.0 sites to generate traffic for my travel blog for about 2 months. Traffic is not flooded, but I've seen some good results using them and I'm sure there's a huge potential if I put more time and effort into it. Now I'm going to share with you my experience getting traffic and backlinks using these sites.

1. Bookmarking

Bookmarking sites are getting extremely popular these days. Every serious online marketer is using them as a way of promoting their businesses and getting traffic. But sometimes it's not possible to continue bookmark your pages to 20+ most popular sites separately each day. So that's where this powerful website comes handy.

Open your account at OnlyWire, fill in your login username and password for the listed 19 bookmarking sites. If you don't have accounts with the websites, just open one on each, it only takes around 20 minutes. Now drag one of the "save page" link onto your toolbar. Everytime you want to bookmark a page, just click on the link, type in some tags and a brief description (if you want), hit submit, your page is instantly bookmarked on all the 19 sites.

I haven't checked how many traffic I receive from these sites but I believe it helps to get the word out and receive more pr backlinks. Plus, it only takes less than a minute, why not give it a shot?

2. Digging

I've been using Digg for some time now and have received a good amount of traffic for my blogs. Open an account with Digg, search for people in the same interest, add them as friends, and digg your pages. Everytime you digg a page, your friends will be notified. But you have to continue find active members to add as friends since a lot of them only check their accounts once in a month.

You can also find a handy little link icon on Digg's homepage, drag it onto your toolbar, then you can digg your pages follow 3 easy steps.

3. Twittering

I just registered at Twitter one week ago and fell in love with it instantly. You can tell eveyone what you are doing at the moment in a couple of words or sentences, and embedd one of the widgets on your blogs so that your readers know what you are up to. It's a great marketing tool if you have a lot of followers (similar as friends on Digg) who will be notified once you send out a message.

To conclude, utilizing the power of Web 2.0 sites is essential for any serious blogger who wants to make a full-time income from blogs. Explore these popular Web 2.0 sites and find your own tips and techniques. Your work will pay off!

Make Money Blogging - How Do You Deal With Frustration?

By Kurt Bai

Yes, I feel frustrated. Working in front of my computer day in and day out. Writing articles, submitting to sites, posting on forums, commenting on other blogs, asking for linkbacks, reading ebooks, and waiting for traffic to come.

But it never comes.

What the hell am I doing wrong? My content is unique and helpful, my pages are optimized, links are increasing, why is traffic still can be counted using my fingers?

I am indeed frustrated because my work seems not bringing any return.

But I must deal with it I said to myself. The virtual online world is not any easier comparing with the real offline world because the web is a true reflection of it. There's no easy way to achieve success without continuous effort. If I want to stop blindly believing the so-called gurus and falling into their money sucking traps, I got to work hard.

Do you think they really want everyone else to become as successful as themselves, as claimed in their endless guides, courses, blueprints, and all that crap? They won't tell you the real thing because once they did, they'll have the whole globe competing with them.

Then what's the real thing behind their success? I guess the only way to find out is to... well, try. Do everything on your own, don't outsource articles, don't pay for installation, don't ask somebody else to look up your own problems, because that way you'll never learn.

Do it yourself. Find out the reasons why your effort is not paying off and continue. I guess that's the only way.

Are you facing the same frustration at times as a blogger? Share it with me.

Make Money Blogging - Getting Backlinks the Easy Way

By Kurt Bai

Link building is extremely important for bloggers who want to make a full time income from their blogs, especially when Google gives more credit to quality one way backlinks. There are lots of free ways to generate one way links, such as commenting on other people's niche blogs. But it could be very demanding to search for related blogs, check their page rank, read through the posts, and finally leave your comment with a link to your own blog. Comment Kahuna created by Jason Katzenback, Jason Potash and Marc Quarles is a very useful little tool to help you build one way backlinks fast.

It is no doubt one of the best, if not THE best free link building tool on the web. I'm not affiliated with the creators of the software in any way, I'm just expressing my gratitude to them by letting more fellow bloggers to be benefitted from their work.

The software perform search queries according to your keyword and return blogs in the niche from several sources. You can choose what types of blogs to appear in the results, such as Wordpress, Typepad, Drupal, Live Journal, etc. You can also specify minimum page rank to search for the blogs. It does the work in a second and you can start posting comments to the posts right away.

First create your profile with your author name, email address, and most importantly your blog url. Find the blogs with desired Page Rank. Fill your profile information with one click of the mouse and post your comments. Imagine the time saved using this tool. You can literally post to 100 blogs in an hour if you want. But in order to let the blog owners to approve your comment so that you finally get that backlink, you must follow the following tips.

1. Post quality comments

Instead of posting the same "great post, thanks for sharing, pls visit my blog at..." comment to a thousand blog, you should read the posts first, get a rough idea of the key points, and leave your own opinion. That way the blog owners are more likely to approve your comments, so that you get the backlinks.

2. Read fast by scanning

No need to read word by word, just scan the posts and note the key points. I usually read the first paragraph really quick, scan the body for key points, and read a little more carefully at the final paragraph because the authors usually summarize their points or give away some tips here. Then you can post your opinion about what the authors have said. No need to be long, just 1 or 2 sentences like "I totally agree with you on that quality unique content is essential for making money from blogs because nobody likes spam." The whole process usually just take me less than 2 minutes.

3. Post on low Page Rank blogs

Apart from posting on high Page Rank blogs, you should also post on low Page Rank or "0" Page Rank blogs because every successful blog starts from zero. Imagine the traffic and pr juice they bring you once they take off in the search engines!

4. Post more on Comment Luv blogs

Comment Luv enables your latest blog post to appear in the auto-approved comments. So apart from getting a backlink, you may also get traffic. Put more effort and time posting on these blogs, you'll get more return for your time and energy.

That's basically it. Download the software if you haven't done so. Continue building links using this tool for 2 or 3 months, you'll see your pages climbing up in the SERPs.

Make Money Blogging - 5 Tips on How to Write Effective Articles Fast

By Kurt Bai

Writing articles is one of the most, if not THE most cost-effective way to establish your online presence, bring traffic to your websites or blogs, and make money online. Your visitors will love you for providing useful information in your articles and become loyal readers, and finally, customers. If your articles are well-written, it is very likely that the ezine or even offline magazine publishers will pick it up and bring you endless traffic.

Writing articles is not as hard as you may think. You don't have to be an English Literature graduate to write effective articles. Below are 5 helpful tips to get you started.

1. Write from your own experience and knowledge.

Always relate your topic to your own experience and knowledge. Tell your readers what you know about a topic and share your opinions. Explain from your own perspective. That way you won't worry about what to write. For example, there are hundreds if not thousands articles on writing articles. But this one you are reading is not identical to any one out there because I'm writing it from my own experience. I'm explaining how to write effective articles from my own points of view. I never run out of things to write about because I have so much to share with you from the bottom of my heart. Don't repeat others because telling your readers what YOU know about the topic is what blogs are about.

2. Don't worry about fancy words.

Writing for blogs is completely different with writing for your dissertation or a masterpiece in literature. Providing useful information and share your thoughts using easy to understand, down-to-earth, and day to day language. That way your readers will learn what you are talking about in a time-saving and effective way. Remember, there's never a need to show off your encyclopedia language skills in your blogs.

3. Make it a conversation.

Imagine you are talking to your friends on msn or writing them an email. Write your articles in the style of conversation. This is a very powerful hint to make your article stands out from the boring illustration of figures or no-life promotional sales copies. Always have your readers' needs in your mind as if they are asking questions in front of you. Then provide that information as if you are answering the questions.

4. Use bullet points.

Start your title like "5 Tips on..." or "10 Reasons Why...", this way your readers will have a rough idea of how much information they are going to find in your article. Instead of wasting time locating your key points in an ever ending cluster of words, tell them your main points by listing them using bullet points or numbers and bold them. If your readers don't have enough time to read from word to word, they still can understand your points by just scanning the bolded sentences.

5. Follow the Flow!

There's no need to research on a topic you already know about for a month to write an article. No need to plan everything like you are drawing up a conspiracy. Just follow the flow of thoughts in your head. I don't have an idea about how many tips I should tell you in this article because they are countless. I just naturally follow my mind because I believe the first ones that pop up in my head when I decide on the topic are the ones that matter the most from my perspective. I also find it hard to stop some time after starting writing, even on topics that I may not have in-depth knowledge about. That's the power of the flow!

Ooops, just 2 more powerful tips from the flow: let your personality shine in your writing, and don't worry about if someone's gonna like your writing or not!

Tomorrow I'll talk about how I managed to have 2 offline magazine publishers to re-publish my articles from my other 2 month old travel blog. Stay tuned.
