Blog For the People Not the Money

By Corey R Geer

Do you currently own a blog or are you thinking about making a blog? If you've said yes to either question then you might need to know the following because I see so many starting web masters open up blogs and fail because they weren't thinking of one very simple concept that could have soared their profits sky high. They were blogging to make money online and they weren't doing it for the people.

What do you have if you have a professional looking website designed by the world's best website designer and you have a sales pitch written by the greatest make money online guru of all time but you have no traffic to this site? You have another space on the web and this is why most people shoot themselves in the foot. A great looking website or blog in this case, alone will not carry you to making money on the web because with a blog it's not about the money.

When people come to read a blog, they're coming for quality information. If you started out with one million subscribers via e-mail and you kept sending them ads of products, how long do you think they would stay on that list? Chances are you have their e-mail because they were interested in what you had to say and it was informative. When people start blogging just in the hopes of making money online, they steer away from the reason blogs are made in the first place.

Remember one very important and simple concept and that is that your blog is nothing without it's readers. I don't care who designs the blog and who writes it but the blog would be nothing without the readers. The traffic to your blog is the most important part because if it's not being seen by anyone then what purpose does it serve? You've got to have a direction and you have got to give people a reason for viewing your blog and to keep coming back or you'll end up with just another website on the web.

When people come to your blog, what's the first thing they see? Is it ad after ad after ad without any real reliable information? The average person will only skim a website a few seconds before he decided to stay or leave and in that first few seconds you need to grab the potential reader's attention and get him interested in what you have to say, because an informed reader is a potential customer in the blogging world.
