To have the kind of blog that makes you some sweet cash you need to be able to master one thing - and that is traffic generation. It's a simple equation - the more traffic you have, the more money you are likely to make. Of course the content you have is important too otherwise people are just going to press the back button and leave your site forever, but to be truly successful you need to get them there in the first place and to do that and know how to make money blogging you need to think carefully about your keywords.
Now that doesn't mean you should just stick your keyword or keyphrase over and over again in the title, in every paragraph, even in your image alt tags - oh no my friend it isn't as easy as that. Google is wise to those little tricks and is likely to flag your blog for spamming and you certainly don't want that happening, but you do want it to rank for that keyphrase so what is the best number of times to include your keywords?
While many people might throw around figures from 1% all the way up to 8%, from all the studies I have done, 2-3% works best for me for getting on pages 1-3 on Google. Anything more and I disappear and anything less and I'm on page gazillion. I actually did this as a test on a blog of mine. I had the keyphrase at about 5% density on the page and I couldn't even find myself on the search engines. I edited some of the words out and rearranged things so I was only 2% optimized and voila, I appear on page two for a highly searched for term.
So how do you make your blog around 2% density for its keyphrase? Well a 2% density for a typical 300 word blog post means your phrase should appear around 5-6 times. So for me that is usually once in the title, once in the first paragraph, once in the body of the post and then finally once at the end in the conclusion. I also add it once to one picture as an alt tag. That usually gives me a perfect number of times.
Other ways you can boost your ranking for that keyword without adding it any more is to place more importance on those words. You can do this by either bolding, underlining or italicizing them or even making them a heading. This tells the search engines that they are more important than the regular text on the page so you get higher points without being seen as spammy.
Finally you need to also keep into consideration that you are writing primarily for people and not search engines so make sure that your phrase fits well in the sentence and makes sense to readers and not out of place. By now you should be a master and know how to make money blogging and start earning some serious cash.
