Blogging is a good way to stimulate business and in many cases is completely free. Since blogging can be done on a personal basis it is important that the content remain very neutral on a business based blog. Because everyone has such varied beliefs and moral convictions it is bad business to discuss or promote controversial topics through a business blog. A personal blog may be a different story, but when marketing to the public neutral content is always the best policy.
Now this doesn't mean that the blogger should not express emotional, personal or other experiences related to the site or business. This is perfectly acceptable as long as the average individual would not become offended by it. There are many topics and information that can be used besides something that is highly controversial. Blogging content can be anything from facts about the product itself or customer experiences that shed a positive light on the service. In fact it can be very helpful to have past clients make a statement or referral for potential customers to view. This can help them make their decision by showing them that others are happy or satisfied with the product.
When a company allows a blog it is representative of the company as a whole. That is the reason that it is important to maintain a professional blog space. Blogs can be a company's best friend and increase traffic as well as profits, but on the other hand it can become a nightmare without the correct guidance. Strict guidelines and rules should apply for business blogs to ensure that they promote appropriately.
