As more and more people discover the benefits of internet marketing, the question that is sure to come up is "Is it easier to make money with blogs or static websites? This is a great question, because the proper choice of tools and techniques can mean the difference between success and failure.
For me, the answer is simple. Blogs are superior for most projects, especially for the new marketer. I have a handful of reasons for believing this.
The Learning Curve
While learning to build a website is an admirable goal, it can be difficult for a new person to get a grasp on using HTML, much less CSS, PHP, or Java. In contrast, the wordpress blogging platform takes a few minutes to download, one quick modification, and a minute or two to upload. This is detailed by the "Famous 5 minute Wordpress Install" on the wordpress webpage.
The Cost
Another factor is the cost of software. Although there are free HTML editors out there, they are limited in functionality. Buying more advanced software comes with a higher learning curve as well as a higher price tag.
Speed of Use
Updating a webpage can be a big project...writing the content, applying it to the web template being used(or creating a new template), uploading the page using ftp software....
Luckily, you can just log in to your blogs control panel and hit "create new post" and add your content.
Adaptability
Decided you don't like the look of your page? Need to change colors, layouts, or add and remove functions? Good thing you're a blogger! Unlike conventional pages, you can quickly change themes, layouts, plug-ins, and monetization strategies. That's an all day affair with a static page, unless you want to just pay a web designer to do it.
