Business Blogging Requires Quality Control - Grammar, Spelling, Syntax and Punctuation

By Lance Winslow

A blog is suppose to be your thoughts online, at least this is how most people use personal blogs these days in online social networks. This is why much of the content and so many of the blog posts you see are stream of thought. Nevertheless, most bloggers are not Virginia Wolfe and that means you are still going to need to pay attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation otherwise you are going to look ignorant.

Now let's consider the latest evolution in blogging over the last few years, the Business Blog. Business Blogging is much different than personal blogging and since your customers are judging you by what you write, as much as how you write, then you ought to learn to write right, right? Also you must consider that if you run a small business blog that you might be competing against a much bigger corporation and that company will have professional public relations personnel who are obviously highly skilled at writing.

That is not to say that you cannot compete head to head with them, as you have the opportunity to cater toward a much more local audience, however, you must remember that you are going to have to concentrate on your blog's quality and that means more than just spell check. The easiest way to insure that your blog posts are readable and not full of stupid syntax, punctuation and grammar errors is to have someone else read them after you have read and edited them twice.

Now you might say that this is not necessary, but if you are competing for the Internet Surfer and you wish to build your subscriber base and keep those viewers coming back, you are going to have to be thinking here. So, consider this please.
