By Lanre Adeboye

What is a Blog?

A blog can be simply defined as a web space that is designed for people to express their opinions/views on any subject. Blogspace is different from a website basically because it does not necessarily need navigation and or specific layout and it just express an individual's view on a particular subject or group of subjects. Blogging can be said to be one of the simplest mean to express your views on any subject and convey it across it to the people who could be interested in similar topic(s) around the world as it can be set up in minutes. Mostly, blogging is free on the internet, there are many websites that gives you opportunity to express you views on any topic of interest for free but the disadvantage sometime is that they may decide to pack up one day giving you short notice or without notifying you at all.

Advantages/Benefits of Blogging

As mentioned earlier, blogging is a quick and easy ways to get your opinions across to whomever cares about such topic; this helps you earn global recognition if your view on such topic is sound enough in the sight of the readers.

Also, blogging helps you to network with people of like minds across the globe; by reading you blog, they may be willing to know you more in order to contact you to share your opinions on similar topic in the future.

Blogging can also earn you residual income; many blog sites is designed with templates that allows you to place affiliate banners that can interest your blog readers which will in turn will be earning you some dollars as long as people visits your blog(s). This type of earning is what I usually recommend for people that are newcomers to the internet earnings and are eager to earn online without imputing their cash for a start. Another advantage of blogging is traffic generation. If you already have a website of your own, you can always link back to it through your blog as this will increase your site rating on search engines. Search engines use number of back-links to rate the popularity of a website.

Blogging seems to be one of the easiest things to do online apart from signing up or registering for a service; if you can successfully send mails from your inbox, you will be able to create a blog. There are many websites that offer free web blog for people to express their opinions. Also, in case you already have a website, you may want to use the feature on you web package as most of the web packages nowadays always come with it. 4. Many blog sites would provide you with a sub domain name which will serve as your blog address on the internet and a card space to create an intro that will appear on all your blog, utilize this as it is what generally serves as an intro to all of your blogs in that niche you have chosen. Example of a sub domain name is onlineways.blogspot.com

Monetizing Your Blog

Like I said earlier, you can begin to make money online through blogging. If your idea/opinion on a particular topic is compelling or educative, it will surely attract attentions from all over the world and this could be a good avenue for cool residual income for you. Many free blog providers always create these avenue in order encourage people to use their platform for blogging by including adverts affiliate program(s) in their sign up process. Others do create templates that allows you to sign up for adverts affiliate from third party program which banners you can place by the sides of your blog to earn moneys as people click them through your blog pages.
